Distress can show up as failing classes, procrastination, insomnia, sadness, lack of focus, irritability, anxiety and feelings of hopelessness about the future. In our work together, we will identify sources of distress, resolve conflicts that are holding you stuck, and learn, practice and integrate coping strategies. Our work will enable you to become more grounded, self-aware, confident, and self-directed. I studied English and Environmental Studies at SUNY Albany and Williams College. I received my Masters in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University and my Masters in Social Work from New York University. My professional experience includes over 15 years working in academia, including serving as the director of a university women's and gender resource center, adjunct professor and academic advisor, in addition to my work as a psychotherapist. I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America and am a climate-aware and trauma-informed therapist. Many of my current clients are dealing with trauma and social anxiety. They often feel isolated and struggle with initiating and building healthy connections and friendships with others. I specialize in assessment and treatment of sleep problems and ADHD. I am board certified in behavioral sleep medicine (i.e., the behavioral treatment of sleep difficulties). I provide CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) and also treat other sleep problems such as circadian rhythm disorders (e.g., delayed sleep phase) and nightmares. I also have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of ADHD. I provide neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations, including testing for the purpose of requesting accommodations on standardized exams, and ADHD/executive function coaching (also known as CBT for ADHD).

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in midtown Manhattan. When I decided to go back to school for a master’s degree, I chose social work because I felt strongly about its foundational belief that focus should be on both a person and their environment. During graduate school at Fordham University I saw many appealing paths I could continue on after graduation. While both macro and micro levels of practice are extremely important, I felt best suited for work with individuals on a deeper level. I wanted to further my education and went on to complete the four-year postgraduate training program in Adult Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from The National Institute for the Psychotherapies. Prior to private practice I worked with a diverse population in various clinics throughout New York City. In addition to private practice I have been guest faculty at the Training Institute for Mental Health and taught a course on Eating Disorders. In March 2020, I completed a post master’s program in Spirituality and Social Work at New York University.

The LGBTQ+ population from youth to adults navigate the challenges of being ones-self and accessing safe housing, affirming healthcare, integrating into social circles of family and friends, feeling safe to exist in all spaces they enter, challenging the expectations to be the educator of their identities, and even policing themselves for their own safety and other people’s comfort. I will provide a safe space for folks to show up as themselves, identify concretely their goals and aspirations, consider how they can dictate their environment to become their sanctuary, and take small steps towards becoming their most authentic self.
