Because no two people are the same, your care at Connecting Heals is designed to honor exactly who you are. You will find a safe, culturally responsive, and explicitly LGBTQ+ affirming space that celebrates your unique identity and neurotype, rather than expecting you to fit into a traditional or neurotypical box. To ensure your healing journey is accessible, you will also be met with flexible financial options, including sliding scales and insurance advocacy, to help remove barriers to your care. Ultimately, your therapy is built around your individual lived experiences, empowering you to heal and navigate the world as your most authentic self.

You’re managing school, work, relationships, and everyone’s expectations — and people assume you’re fine. But underneath, you’re exhausted from keeping it together. You’ve even tried some self-care, but it’s not hitting like it used to. Many of the clients I work with are BIPOC, queer, and/or neurodivergent adults navigating anxiety, chronic stress, relational trauma, and major life transitions while working toward a greater sense of self and safety. Together, we'll untangle the patterns that keep you stuck and help you move through life with less pressure and more ease.
I specialize working with clients who have mood disorders, trauma, learning disabilities, and developmental disabilities. Many clients identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum and are working on finding who they are. I am a current school social worker that works with students of all walks of life. I have experience that can help you as you navigate college pressures, transitions, and career paths. I enjoy working with high school and college students. Often my clients are working through life changes and transitions and they want to better their relationships. I help clients understand things that are happening in their bodies, both physical symptoms related to escalation or anxiety, and their emotions. I can help you identify triggers for negative feelings and interpret various social interactions. Together, we can work to help you gain insight of helpful versus harmful behaviors. I view this work as collaborative. Together, we can recognize patterns and cycles that start with interpretation of events, your cognitive patterns, and your feelings, empowering you to determine which actions to take. We can process past and present events that have impacted your ability to connect with others, while working toward finding peace and growth.
Are you new to seeking mental health care and feeling a little unsure about the whole process? Are you experienced with the mental health care system and looking for a new therapist? Well you can stop right here and give me a call, text or email. My approach is client centered, meaning you are in control and I am walking along beside you to support you in your journey. I utilized a strengths-based perspective, meaning you have made it this far in life, now you just need a little something to go the next mile. Don't look any further. Let's get busy making your dreams a reality.
ACCEPTING NEW MICHIGAN TELETHERAPY CLIENTS AS OF 6/1/26 As a social worker, Danica's approach to therapy is anti-oppressive. She is a straight, cis, straight-size, Filipina Asian American woman who strives to be a better accomplice to all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, disabilities, body sizes, faiths, and spiritualities. Danica believes in the therapeutic philosophy that life just sucks sometimes; sometimes a client wants a therapist to help it feel less sucky, and other times, they need a therapist to just actually listen to them. She also combines scientific, evidence-based practices and therapy treatments taught at the best social work school and program in the world with the people skills and street smarts from working in a local private practice to starting her own solo practice. She creates and communicates customized treatment plans to each person who walks into her therapy room or, in the case of teletherapy, appears on the computer screen. Her main areas of focus include anxiety (generalized anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, OCD), pregnancy (from infertility to postpartum to grieving due to miscarriage or abortion), and trauma (which not only includes PTSD, but also complex-PTSD/borderline personality disorder and identity-based trauma). Danica's ideal population is from young adults to middle-aged. However, some exceptions can be made for folks a bit younger or older. Please reach out if, after reading her bio, you think you would be a great fit. As a 1.5-generation Filipina-American, she personally understands the intersection of mental health with the Asian diaspora and therefore, encourages Asian-Americans to reach out for mental health services. Danica has recently completed her certificate in Sport Social Work from The University of Michigan in July 2025. Inspired by her long-time favorite self-care activity of endurance running, she noticed a growing trend of young adults turning to running half and full marathons as their new self-care activity, too. She decided to receive more training on how to care for the mental health of athletes from those who have been playing sports since childhood to nontraditional athletes who are just starting to appreciate what their bodies can do. Danica is also a former library social worker trained in bibliotherapy, which can be used as a standalone treatment or as a complement to other therapies to help with any mental health issue. Please check out the website listed to learn more about Danica's experience.

Cognitive therapy primarily for clients with brain injuries.
Getting to know yourself—who you truly are—can be one of the most challenging yet empowering experiences in life, especially if you're someone who’s been told you think too much, feel too much, or just are too much in general. If that sounds like you, then we should definitely talk. Clients often come to me because they’ve been misunderstood or boxed in elsewhere. Many of them are figuring out how to live outside the lines: queer folks, neurodivergent folks, people in non-traditional relationships, or people who just never quite felt “normal,” whatever that means. As a neurodivergent queer therapist, I’m right there with you. With roots in narrative therapy and trauma-informed work, I bring a client-led, conversational approach. I enjoy helping individuals and relationships see and make sense of the ways their pasts show up in their present, especially those navigating formative trauma, major identity or life changes, or relationship patterns that feel stuck on repeat. Therapy is supposed to be the place where you get to show up as your full, messy self without judgment. My job is to help you feel safe and grounded enough to do just that. If you’re ready to take the first step towards finding your way back to yourself, I’d love to walk alongside you. Please reach out for a free consultation!

I have a warm, interactive, engaging style.

I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite like themselves, often dealing with anxiety, low mood, or a lack of motivation. Many of the people I work with are navigating new life transitions, health concerns, relationship challenges, or stress related to work or school. My style is warm and collaborative, meeting you where you are and working alongside you. I take a holistic approach to therapy, getting to know you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. We’ll explore how things like emotions, relationships, physical health, sleep, and daily stressors all interact to affect your wellbeing. *I’m a therapist at Mentella Health, a tele-health group private practice* Welcome! My name is Zena and I specialize in working with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, interpersonal concerns, and life challenges/adjustments. I have a MA in counseling and a BS in psychology and over five years working as a therapist in various outpatient settings. My approach to therapy is integrative; I work from a client-centered/humanistic lens incorporating elements of psychodynamic, existential, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused. Therapy is collaborative, there is no one size fits all approach to therapy, therefore I tailor my approach based on the needs of the individual. I believe the most important element of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, therefore I aim to be open-minded and authentic in the therapy room. My goal is to help clients gain insight by providing a safe, non-judgemental environment that fosters acceptance while also encouraging clients to work toward their goals (e.g. balancing acceptance with change). My ideal client is someone who is curious, open-minded, and willing to explore new prescriptives and how past experiences might be impacting how we currently engage with ourselves, others, and in the world. Many of my clients report increased self-awareness, self-acceptance, and ability to understand, accept, and regulate their internal experiences. When I am not providing therapy, I enjoy being in nature/hiking, spending time with my family and cats, and watching horror movies.
