Connection is healing, and change happens when trust exists. My counseling style is warm and interactive, and I work to cultivate a therapeutic relationship based on acceptance, empathy, and respect. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels, and my therapeutic approach is strength-based with eclectic therapeutic techniques that conform to the individualized needs of my clients. I draw from mindfulness-based approaches while incorporating cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and solution-focused techniques. I will tailor our conversation and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I have over 20 years of experience working as a mental health counselor in various settings, including community-based agencies, public schools, and higher education. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, adjustment issues, and recovery from trauma. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. I applaud your willingness to take those next steps! If you are ready, I am here to support and empower you.

College can be an exciting time, but it also comes with unique pressures: academic stress, big life decisions, changing relationships, and figuring out who you are and who you want to be. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m Erin C. Hayes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. My passion is helping young women tap into their strengths, build confidence, and navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and other emotional or medical stressors. I often use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on reshaping unhelpful thought patterns so you can feel more in control of your emotions and actions. I also integrate other approaches when they’re the right fit because therapy should feel personal, and not a one-size-fits-all. I believe our past experiences shape how we see ourselves, but they don’t have to define our future. In our work together, you’ll find a supportive, judgment-free space where you can be heard, gain clarity, and move forward with resilience and self-assurance. If you’re ready to explore your potential and create a future that feels true to you, I’d be honored to support you on that journey. <script src="https://thrivingcampus.com/verified.js?pid=41620"></script>

I specialize in working with adults and young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, eating disorders, and addictions. I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques based on your particular needs to help you feel empowered to guide your own healing and life goals. My therapy technique is based on a humanistic approach, which is a focus on seeing the world through your eyes to foster growth, and resilience. You are the expert of your life, and my approach is to nurture that truth. I often reflect on the dimensions of wellness in session, and will utilize tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I have extensive experience working with individuals navigating addiction and recovery, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and stress. I also incorporate DBT-informed coping skills—particularly mindfulness—which I’ve found to be powerful tools in both clinical work and everyday life. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you. I typically structure sessions around one or two main areas to help keep our work focused and meaningful. Treatment planning is a collaborative process, and I strive to make sure it aligns with your unique needs and goals. Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and taking that first step is a brave decision. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can be heard, understood, and empowered. I believe in a patient-centered approach—working collaboratively to understand your goals, meet you where you are, and support you at your pace. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, I’d be honored to support you. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

For many, college is the best of times..the newfound freedom to discover who you are and where you’re going in your career and your relationships and the sense of all that’s possible. But, for others, it’s also the worst. Why? Because this is also a time of existential crises. New freedoms bring up so many questions: Is this really the relationship or career I want to pursue? If this is such a great time in my life, why do I feel so anxious, stressed, or depressed? Why can’t I regularly tap into the motivation I want to do all the things I’ve always wanted to do? Imagine how it feels… the waves constantly coming at you. You personally have to navigate these situations, because you’re the only one with all the answers. But it feels scary and shameful that you don’t have the foggiest clue of what you’re doing. And shouldn’t you already know by now?? Not at all! Truth is, college is a much more difficult time than most people acknowledge. But hard times can also be opportunities… for you to discover more fully who you are and how to embrace this ‘not-knowing.’ Our work together will help you learn how to make sense of all these different feelings, and cultivate the creativity needed to make something interesting and new out of all those questions. Instead of being pummeled by the waves, you can actually surf them! Instead of getting pulled in by the undertow, the barrage of self-critical and anxious thoughts that keep you up at night, I’ll help you learn how to approach these without fear and harness them so you can find your answers. Let’s get started! If you’re excited about putting aside the worry and the stress and finding your energy and direction again, call or email me so we can get started. College can be that great time you’d always hoped it would be.

What haven't you said? And what might change if you said it? Some things only become known and shift under the right conditions. I'm Andrew, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Ashland, OR, remote across OR, MD, and NY. I've been a therapist for 15 years. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, relationship snags, troublesome patterns, career and purpose questions, and the more diffuse sense that something is off. I work with students and graduate students sorting out what it means to become themselves while meeting everyone else's expectations, and with medical students and residents under the particular pressures of clinical training. I've also spent years with addiction, trauma, and more acute struggles. My training is psychoanalytic, but in practice I'm more interested in you than in applying any of it to you. I'm not here to fit you into a framework or hand you formulas for how to be. Together we explore what matters, what repeats, what gets avoided, what happens between us. You come to know what's best. That stays with you anywhere. The first conversation is a brief phone call, fifteen or twenty minutes, to talk about what brought you in and whether we're a fit. Not sure if therapy is for you? That's a fine place to start. Reach out.

Meetings will include elements of meditation, mindfulness-based practices, interpersonal processing, writing exercises, and expressive arts therapy. The process of finding a therapist can bring up feelings of nerves and discomfort. Today you braced that and I applaud you for it. A strong client-therapist relationship promotes progress and allows for a meaningful connection to occur for the both of us. Sometimes you wonder: When did life become so tough? Many things can knock us off balance. Betrayal from friends. Abuse by a trusted one, and the numbing shock of PTSD. Grief and loss. Trauma doesn’t look the same for every person. The common lie my clients tell themselves is, “It’s not that bad, other people have it worse.” You’re not other people, and if your life is being impacted by heavy emotions you’re carrying, you’re allowed to get help. Everything that happens to you, matters. I help people break through the overwhelm. I'm a board-certified psychotherapist specializing in trauma and PTSD, including trauma from abuse, rape, sexual assault and relationship violence. My collaborative approach focuses on your strengths, creating a safe environment that fosters growth. It’s important for someone to be in your corner - not to judge you, or tell you what to do, but to truly listen to you and guide you as you heal.

Hello! I’m a therapist who believes that real healing happens through self-compassion, mindfulness, and meaningful connection. If you’re feeling stuck in the same old patterns—overthinking, people-pleasing, shutting down emotionally—I’m here to help you shift that. A big part of my work is helping people feel their feelings in a real, embodied way. We’ll slow down, tune into your body, and start to notice what’s actually going on underneath the surface. I use somatic tools to help you reconnect with yourself and move through emotional blocks—not just talk about them. At the same time, I’ll support you in building practical skills that make daily life feel more manageable and empowering. I always keep a trauma-informed lens and acknowledge how systems of oppression and past experiences impact your nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. Therapy with me is about creating space for change while being kind to yourself along the way. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Welcome and congratulations on taking the first step towards meeting with a therapist! You feel that that you don't have a good sense of who you are. You behave in different ways around your friends, family members, and colleagues. It's hard for you to keep your emotions in check and at times you feel your emotions are out of control. As a result, you react in ways that make things more challenging for yourself and others. Your relationships often have conflict, friends don't seem to stick around, and you can't figure out why. You wonder if you're doing something wrong and if there is something you can do differently. You question why things at home, with work/school, or with relationships can't be easier. When you try to handle these problems, it seems like things only get better for a little while, or they just get worse. I help clients figure out what truly matters most to them in life; assist clients in learning how to connect with and live in the present moment; support clients in finding ways to handle intense emotions, respond in ways that don't erupt their relationships, and to weather through the tough times.

I specialize in working with young adults struggling with anxiety. During your college years, there is a lot of pressure to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life. It can seem like everyone else has it figured out or maybe you wonder if you're the only one who feels anxious or uncertain about the future. I will help you work through that anxiety and develop the skills and tools you'll need to feel more confident.
