We all get overwhelmed. New challenges can emerge, coping skills cease working, and new skills need developing. Therapy can help light the way. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, ADHD or everyday life becoming unmanageable, therapy can provide you with the tools to cope. I want to be there to support you during this process. Successful therapy starts with the formation of the counselor-client bond. Therapy is a relationship where a private, supportive, and non-judgmental alliance is fostered. Psychic injuries, biological dispositions, familial experiences, and successful life experiences shape our present. The past affects how we relate to others and why we carry wounds into the present. New and old life events can lead to self-destructive coping. Therapy can heal wounds and impart insight. Symptoms and diagnosis need not define us. We can learn to appreciate life’s joy and successes. Call for a no-fee phone consultation and start the journey. I practice an integrative approach to counseling informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Attachment theory. I specialize in the treatment of depression, bipolar, ADHD, and anxiety disorders. Other areas of concentration include improving self esteem, increasing assertiveness, improving interpersonal relationships, and managing life transitions. Our counseling experience starts with a no fee phone screening to see if we are a good fit. You and I will ask a couple questions to get an idea of what you are going through. If I have the right tools and you feel comfortable, we will proceed to the paperwork and setting up our first Telehealth session.

My ideal client may be struggling with a wide array of issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, academic pressures, life transitions, or identity exploration. They may require support in developing effective coping strategies, enhancing their emotional regulation skills, and building a strong sense of self-worth. They may also need guidance in understanding their mental health, navigating interpersonal dynamics, or setting or achieving goals. The goals for my ideal client often revolve around self-discovery and personal growth. As a therapist-in-training with a background in social work and chemical dependency counseling, I specialize in helping college students navigate life's complexities. I understand that college can be a time of significant stress, change, and personal development, and I am here to support you as you face these challenges. I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially when you're already managing so much. Therapy is not about "fixing" you; it's about understanding you—your story, your strengths, your struggles, and your hopes. It's about creating a space where you can be your most authentic self without fear of judgment.

Have you lived through a recent traumatic event or had a stressful childhood, and find yourself frequently stuck in self-destructive patterns and relationships? Is adjusting to college life causing you to feel anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed and just plain burnt out? Or have you experienced a sexual assault and don't know how to deal with it? Adjusting to college is a significant life transition and it's not always clear what to do next. Finding confidence in your own voice and abilities, and clarity about your own needs can be difficult when you've been through stressful experiences. I specialize in working with professionals in the performing arts and other creative fields, as well as those who want to enter them. My approach is informed by my own life experience as a former professional dancer in the American Ballet Theatre, and by the study of meditation and yoga. I have been in the social work field since graduating from Hunter College School of Social work 2004. In addition to talk therapy, I use mindfulness techniques like meditation, guided visualizations, as well as attention to body sensations to help you identify and begin to move through where you get blocked. I am also trained in EMDR and utilize that technique to help people heal from trauma and other stressful experiences. **Will be out of office July 11-.**

Music Therapist
Queens, NY

We are moved to seek mental health treatment when traditional methods of self-care are not enough, when life becomes too much to handle on our own. Regardless of your specific issues, we will be exploring the ways in which creativity (especially music) can help you meet the challenges you face. Through our artistic collaboration and talk therapy, we will be able to discover patterns of thought and ways of relating that may be transformed through greater self-knowledge. Being musically talented is not a prerequisite for music therapy, just experience with the immense depth of feeling that music provides. As a humanistically oriented therapist, empathy forms the foundation of my practice. All material is welcome in sessions, and will be met with unconditional care. Part of our work together will be expanding our understanding of the material you present, and how best to use music to achieve your goals.

I have experience working with students experiencing burnout, imposter syndrome, and overwhelm in their academic, professional, and personal lives. I enjoy working with students who are self aware and may be intellectualizing their emotions and experiences. Anyone looking to take their healing a step further and deeper into their physical body rather than just the cognitive work is someone I’d be excited to connect with.

My name is Kate. I am a psychotherapist with 20 years experience in the field. My practice is LGBTQI+ focused, though clients of all identities work with me. Clients come to me to reduce distress and bring ease into their lives. I practice affirmative therapy that is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and direct. I view therapy as a collaborative journey towards self-discovery, healing, and symptom relief. During our first therapy session, we will outline your goals, discuss your expectations, and leave plenty of time for you to ask questions. We will create a therapy plan together that provides an environment for you to explore needs, process your past and present, and identify new approaches to challenges in your life. I utilize psychodynamic psychotherapy, behavioral therapies such as DBT and ACT, and attachment-focused psychotherapy. I believe therapy is an evolving process between client and therapist, and methods can shift as therapy unfolds. I conduct all sessions remotely via zoom. I have current availability for individual sessions and gender affirming surgery letters.
