Therapists for college students near New York University
Hello and welcome! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their challenges and discover their strengths. With a Master's degree in Social Work earned in 2018, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my practice, having worked with diverse populations and cultivated an open-minded, solution-focused approach to therapy.
My practice specializes in Millennial and Gen Z clients, especially college/grad students and young professionals. I help them to find their balance in this chaotic world, so that they can finally enjoy all they’re doing and working for—instead of letting anxiety, stress, and insecurities call the shots. My clients may be driven or thoughtful, and from the outside, it may look like they are doing OK. But on the inside, they feel defective and alone, like everyone else must know some secret to life that they don't. If you're feeling that way, I get how painful and exhausting it can be. I'd love to help you get to a better place. Most of my clients come in for help with anxiety, depression, traumatic or upsetting memories, or just feeling overwhelmed. For some there's a sense of being in "quarter life crisis." They're needing support navigating school, work, relationships, self-esteem, or the transition to college or postgrad life. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent folks (ADHD, autism, and others), unconventional thinkers, and deep feelers. I affirm and embrace what makes each client unique. My active, personalized approach draws from CBT, ACT, EMDR, and psychodynamic therapy. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Reach out anytime. I’d love to connect!
Fighting life’s many challenges can feel like a never ending battle, especially when feelings of hopelessness and frustration take over. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, or misunderstood or maybe you just want someone to talk to who listens and understands. You’re probably sick and tired of having to be “strong” all the time, and it’s left you feeling drained. You deserve to be heard—to be validated—to be seen. In therapy, I will provide empathy, unconditional support and guidance to help you reach your goals. I utilize integrative psychotherapy to help you break old patterns, and to understand yourself in transformative ways. I have experience supporting patients of various backgrounds struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma as well as life transitions and relationship issues. I am invested in working with black and brown populations, especially young professionals and women of color. This stems from my own experiences as a black woman of both Jamaican and Puerto Rican descent. I aim to help individuals achieve empowerment, resiliency and a more fulfilling and balanced life. Email me today and it'll be my honor to take that journey with you.
Hi I am Tameka and my practice is curated to offer mental health care that is paced at your readiness. At Mind Café, care is both clinical and deeply human. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, mood changes, ADHD, trauma, and the often-overlooked emotional layers that come with living with or being at risk for HIV. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative. We look beyond symptoms to understand patterns, stressors, and the context shaping your experience—so care feels relevant, not generic. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, trying to make sense of shifting moods, or simply want more clarity about how your mind works, this is a space where you can be heard without being reduced to a diagnosis. Care is tailored, evidence-based, and grounded in real-world understanding—with the goal of helping you feel more steady, more informed, and more like yourself again.
Does it ever feel like life isn't going the way you planned or hoped for? In many ways, our past can affect our present and make us feel stuck. Through deep healing work and spiritual exploration, you can start making changes to live your most authentic life possible.
Making the decision to go to counseling can often feel overwhelming. Whether you’re just beginning your counseling journey, or looking to make a change, I recognize the importance of working with a counselor who feels like the right fit for you. I seek to cultivate a mutual sense of trust, respect, and comfort in the therapeutic space to create the necessary foundation for any therapeutic work to begin. I take a trauma-informed approach guided by feminist perspectives that is tailored to each client. I integrate techniques from a range of perspectives, as I firmly believe every client is different and requires an approach that fits their individual needs. I strive to empower you to explore your experiences in a non-judgemental and supportive environment. I enjoy working with individuals 18+ on anxiety, trauma, women’s issues, and life transitions, though I have experience treating a range of presentations. Healing is not a linear process and what may sometimes seem like a step back is often a step forward. I look forward to working with you and sharing in all that your unique journey brings!

As a queer- and neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I’m passionate about creating a safe, inclusive space where you can be your authentic self. Sometimes, you just feel off. Maybe you're coming home from class every day drained, going through a breakup and unsure of what you want next, or dreading whatever tomorrow might bring. Whatever it is, you just don’t feel like yourself – or maybe, you're still trying to figure out who that even is. If that feels like you, know that you're not alone. I work with students who are ready to connect with themselves and find alignment, purpose, and fulfillment. My goal is to help you build a life that actually feels like yours, not anyone else's. In our work together, we’ll look at what’s going on beneath the surface, develop tools to express what you need, and create space for healing and growth. I aim to make our sessions feel safe, supportive, and real. For me, that means showing up with honesty, curiosity, and a little humor, too. School can create a lot of pressure to have it all figured out. In our work, none of that matters. You get to show up as you are, explore what matters to you, and go at your own pace. I am honored to walk alongside you as we work to build self-trust, deepen self-compassion, and make meaningful changes. If you're ready to start that work together, I’d love to hear from you!
Are you highly attuned to others, having been told you're "too sensitive"? Do you struggle with setting boundaries, people-pleasing or burning out from perfectionism and a constantly full calendar? It can be exhausting to balance the weight of being highly sensitive while also meeting the standards set by us, our families, and communities. These behaviors are often connected to earlier relationships, such as family dynamics that can shape how we interact with others later in life. Therapy is a space to help you explore how past relationships shape your present, empowering you to respond to stress in ways that honor your needs. I'm an LCSW with 7+ years of experience working with members of the queer community, neurodiverse individuals, and those managing chronic mental health and medical conditions. I’ve spent my career supporting individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and complex family dynamics. We'll collaborate together to identify and work towards goals that will help you take ownership over your life and build the reality you want to see. Whether it's setting boundaries with parents, letting go of perfectionism, or beginning a challenging career endeavor- I’m here to listen and support you with warmth, curiosity, silliness, and honesty. I'm a queer, Jewish therapist who has experience working with queer Jewish community ranging from those who identify as secular to Orthodox. Navigating queerness from a religious framework has its own unique challenges. Regardless of your background, we'll work together to explore your identity and how that interacts with the world around you.

As a Licensed Masters of Social Work, I have extensive experience providing therapy to individuals in various hospital and mental health settings. Valuing emotional safety, compassion, and empathy, I work collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals. Recognizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship, I work alongside clients to identify, understand and work through personal challenges. This can include, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, PTSD, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and adjustment. Believing evidence informs practice, I understand that it is the individual who is the expert of their experience.. Having extensive experience in clinical settings, including pre/post partum, I recognize the impact not only on the individual but their loved ones. I am both certified and proficient in various evidenced-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. You do not need to work through personal challenges alone. Psychotherapy can help in understanding the personal experience, promoting wellness and achieving goals. I believe it is privilege to be a part of someone else’s journey. My goal to create a supportive, judgment-free space, to allow us to work collaboratively and promote healing.
I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, negative self-talk, low self-esteem, and relationship challenges. Many struggle with overthinking, self-doubt, or difficulty creating meaningful connections. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences—whether from childhood or past relationships—impact your present struggles. We’ll challenge negative beliefs, cultivate self-compassion, and help you build emotional resilience. Therapy is not just about working through difficulties but also about discovering your inner strengths, using them to foster lasting change and greater confidence in your life.
