Therapists for college students near New York University
I am deeply committed to providing holistic, evidence based, individual, and culturally informed care from a humanistic, integrative, and mindfulness perspective. Whether you are seeking a diagnosis, therapy, or need medication management, we will collaborate to identify your goals as well as you inner strengths and resiliency. My aim is to support you in finding your innate wisdom, becoming unstuck, and to guide you in your personal development in a healing and therapeutic environment.
Welcome. If you’re here, I imagine you may be feeling stuck or uncertain about how to move forward in your life. I would like to help you take the next steps. In our work together, we will find ways for you to more meaningfully connect with yourself and with those who are important to you. This work may include facing something from your past, gaining new awareness of repetitive cycles of behavior, navigating a difficult life transition, or the opportunity to freely discover and playfully explore your own subjectivity and imagination. I also work with couples to improve their communication by identifying the ways in which they get stuck trying to resolve conflict, while also finding ways to achieve greater emotional intimacy. My areas of focus include: depression (particularly with men), anxiety, life transitions, identity development, artistic stress, bereavement, trauma, and interpersonal difficulties. My approach is collaborative, active, warm, and transparent. Having worked as an actor previously, I am also particularly aware of the impact of the body on our wellbeing, the nuances of the creative process, and of the various (and often contradictory) roles we play in our relationships. Integrating this perspective in my practice has benefited my work with creatives and non-creatives alike. My practice is primarily psychodynamic; I begin with the assumption that people develop certain patterns of interacting with others in childhood, and that these patterns are repeated throughout life. I use the therapeutic relationship in order to help clarify these conscious and unconscious patterns of relating. If you think we may be a good fit together, please reach out to schedule a free phone consultation. I can be reached at dralexseife@gmail.com

At McGarril Mental Health Counseling, we believe that therapy works best when it's honest, well-informed, and deeply human. We founded this practice because we saw too many people struggling to find therapists who were both clinically excellent and genuinely present. Too often, mental health care feels either coldly clinical or lacks the evidence-based foundation that creates lasting change. We work with clients 18 and over, dealing with depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship issues, grief, eating disorders, and much more. We use EMDR, DBT, IFS, ACT, and CBT approaches. We're committed to offering something different: relational and trauma-informed therapy that combines rigorous training with authentic connection. We show up fully—bringing our expertise, our continued learning, and our humanity to every session.

I work with my clients on exploring underlying patterns, unresolved conflicts, and deep-seated emotional concerns that have been causing distress in their relationships with themselves and others. With authenticity and compassion, I work collaboratively with my clients through relationship and attachment issues, depression, anxiety, self-doubt, shame, loneliness, and childhood trauma, toward greater clarity and fulfillment. I foster a thoughtful space for navigating life transitions, complex family dynamics, questions of identity and purpose, as well as overall feelings of being stuck or lost. I understand that trust takes time and care to develop. Together, we’ll cultivate a relationship in which you can come to feel safe and free to express what’s troubling you. I’ll help you make better sense of what you’ve been struggling with and why, and support you in tuning into and working toward what well-being might look and feel like for you. Talking together with honesty and curiosity can deepen your understanding of yourself and your experiences and build resilience, which both support authentic, lasting growth. As this process unfolds, it can help you make changes that foster a more integrated sense of self, greater connection in relationships, and a stronger sense of meaning in life. TriBeCa Therapy is a center for psychotherapy that was founded on the assumption that human beings are original, imaginative, inspired, and inventive. We particularly love our work with young adults and college students and are connected to issues they deal with. Issues related to sex and dating, drugs and drinking, depression and anxiety and academic pressures aren’t topics that will freak us out. We can handle it. College students frequently discuss with us challenges such as: making friends in ways that don’t involve alcohol, making friends as a person of color, navigating social situations that demand connecting with strangers (like in the cafeteria) and finding “their people.” We work to create a partnership that takes these challenges on together, trying new strategies, taking increasingly bigger risks and dealing with the disappointments and celebrating the successes that follow. College is a time when many young adults are dealing with very adults issues like sex, sexual assault, eating disorders, substance abuse, managing money, race, class, and career choices. Creating a space where young adults feel comfortable talking about these issues is a strength of our therapists and a non-judgmental stance is key. The object isn’t to insist on a particular set of values or practices, but to support young people to understand what they are dealing with and to make active choices about who they want to be. My name is Savi and I’m a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. I have a particular interest in working with students as much of my clinical experience is in working with people in their teens and early 20’s who are going through the big life changes that happen at these times. There is so much to navigate during this time in life with academic demands, becoming more independent from our families, and starting new relationships. There are many reasons we are drawn to start therapy, but I find it is often because we are struggling with difficult feelings related to these things that we may not understand and don’t know how to get rid of. I think it’s important that you have a safe place to talk about these feelings and for us to begin to understand what is underneath them.

Starting therapy can feel hard and overwhelming. As a licensed social worker, I create a warm, engaging, and comforting environment where we will work together to reduce your stress and help you cope with life's challenges. Within our work together, I will draw on my experience with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, relational therapy, and trauma informed care to tailor the treatment to your needs. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, transitions, and relationship issues. I am especially passionate about treating college students and young adults who are often facing many difficult transitions. While transitions can be very stressful, I have found that they can also be an opportunity for change and the beginnings of a new identity. I am an inclusive therapist who works to create a space that is accepting and nonjudgmental. My belief is that we all have the strength to overcome and grow through life’s challenges.
