Therapists for college students near 10003
I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for anxiety, OCD-related concerns, phobias, and sleep difficulties Over the past several years, I have noticed that many college students struggle academically due to undiagnosed ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and attention-related concerns that may go overlooked. In response to this need, I have added comprehensive and affordable ADHD diagnostic testing to my practice to help students better understand their difficulties, access appropriate treatment recommendations, and obtain accommodations when clinically indicated for academic settings and standardized testing. In addition to ADHD testing, I frequently work with students experiencing anxiety, obsessive thinking, perfectionism, panic, OCD symptoms, sleep disruption, and stress related to academic performance and life transitions.

With over a decade of experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and psychiatric and medical social work, I bring both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to the therapy process. My approach is collaborative, solution-focused, and always rooted in respect for you and your own unique experiences. I work with adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, burnout, self-esteem issues, substance use concerns, and women's issues. I also enjoy working with other healthcare professionals and caregivers; people who spend so much of their time caring for others, that they forget how to care for themselves. Clients often tell me they appreciate having a therapist who is warm, approachable, and easy to talk to- all while helping to move beyond insight into meaningful action.

So many young adults are struggling to adjust to new experiences like going to college and moving out. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed just thinking about living on your own and wondering how your friends are so easily moving out of their parents’ home. College sounds like a logical next step and you’re wondering how to make the leap. The idea of landing a job may seem scary and intimidating. Relationships with friends and partners may also be changing, leaving you lonely and uncertain. This can all result in your friends moving on with their lives and you feeling left behind. Trying to leave the comfort and security of the nest can be harder if you are battling old habits you have never looked at or believed you could change. Qualities like trying to be perfect, avoiding tough issues, putting things off and a lack of self-confidence can all add to the struggle of becoming more independent. Many young adults also suffer from severe anxiety, depression or past trauma. When we add in that life skills may not be your strong suit and you may depend on your parents more than other young adults your age do, you have the perfect recipe for failure to launch. Just recognizing what is happening is such a positive first step! Individual therapy is a great place to start for anyone struggling with failure to launch. One of my favorite things to help clients uncover is their spark; the thing in life you feel most passionate about! Let’s get you motivated and doing things you excel at. Learning healthier ways to cope, ditching old habits and feeling better about yourself will get you on track to creating a fun, happy and fulfilling life. Ready to start your journey toward “launching” your life? Then let’s chat! Reach out for your free 15 minute phone consultation. We can check in, I can see how you’re doing and answer your questions.

A warm and compassionate space for you to feel, express, process & move through your emotions. I believe that therapy should be as unique as you are. There isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. My practice integrates traditional talk therapy with somatic (body-based) approaches to offer you a comprehensive path towards healing.

Through personalized therapeutic techniques and medication management, we'll work to build insight, strengthen resilience, and improve your quality of life. Every approach is tailored to you, because no two journeys are the same. My path to becoming a PMHNP was shaped by years at the bedside as an RN, as well as three years in inpatient psychiatry. These experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the connection between physical and mental health, and reinforced my commitment to compassionate, whole-person care. The clinical perspective I developed in those settings informs every session. Understanding how the body and mind work together allows me to bring a more complete and holistic lens to your care. When I'm not seeing patients, you'll find me out for a run, exploring somewhere new, or recharging with friends and family. Time in nature and meaningful connections keep me grounded, and that same sense of balance and presence is something I strive to bring to my work with you.

School can be some of the most rewarding years of your life but they can also be overwhelming. Between classes, internships, work, relationships, family expectations, finances, and figuring out who you are and where you're headed, sometimes it's good to have some extra support. Therapy gives you a place to talk openly about what's going on, without judgment. Whether you're feeling anxious, stressed, burned out, stuck, lonely, or simply trying to make sense of a major life transition, you don't have to navigate it alone. I work with college and graduate students on concerns such as anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, identity exploration, gender identity, academic stress, life transitions, binge eating, and body image. Many of my clients are also learning how to manage life on their own for the first time and are discovering that no one ever really taught them how to handle the emotional side of money. As a Certified Financial Social Worker, I can help you develop a healthier relationship with money, spending, debt, budgeting, and financial decision-making. Together, we can explore both the practical and emotional aspects of financial wellness so you feel more confident and in control. My style is warm, supportive, and down-to-earth. I'll meet you where you are, help you build on your strengths, and offer practical tools along the way. If you're curious about working together, I'd be happy to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we're a good fit.
