Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
When painful things happen in our lives, we do our best to cope with it in the moment. That might mean we get really good at “just dealing with it,” and “toughing it out.” Maybe we get really good at “checking out,” or maybe we become super skilled at coming up with clever ways to altogether avoid triggering situations. At one point in time, these skills served you well. And maybe they don’t any longer. Often, underneath these patterns anxiety and depression flood every day, drowning out our resources and making life difficult to enjoy. But changing these patterns and finding new hope can seem like an impossible feat. So often we know something is off because of what we feel in our bodies. Your heart starts pounding, that turning in your stomach, breathing feels tight, maybe you feel disconnected. The key to finding relief is not just about thinking differently. I am a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist and offer body-based techniques for approaching these issues. When we can tune into our bodies as well as our thoughts, we can begin to take control of our lives. I believe that you ultimately know what’s best for your own life. Sometimes it can feel scary to start therapy. What I usually tell my clients is “you’re in the driver’s seat.” I’m the copilot and have a map, and can point things out that maybe you didn’t see from your vantage point. Let’s figure this out together. Call or email for a free consultation.
Hello, my name is Robert! I specialize in concerns affecting college students, including changing family dynamics, ADHD, career concerns, Obsessive Compulsive Concerns, anxiety/study stressors and relationships.
Hello and thank you for considering me to help you with what you are experiencing! I have been in this field since 2006, with a special interest in life transitions, women’s issues, spirituality, anxiety, depression, and helping people to find meaning and purpose in life.
I am a board licensed clinical social worker (LCSW/LICSW) in the state of Oregon and Massachusetts with a particular passion for working with youth and adults navigating life transitions. I have advanced training in perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum) mental health and am honored to support you on the profound journey to parenthood. Therapy is not about “fixing” or “changing” who you are; it is an ongoing process of self-reflection and discovery. Together we will work to identify areas of your life that are not working and make shifts towards well-being. I work from a relational model and primarily use acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and elements of internal family systems (IFS). Please explore my website to learn a bit more about who I am and what services I can offer. If you feel like we might be a good fit, please fill out some information about yourself and I will reach out to you for a consultation.
Needing space to figure out who you are & giving yourself permission to grow where you are planted is important. I assist individuals navigating issues concerning minority identity, immigrant values, parenting as a child of immigrants, cultural imposter syndrome, trauma, life transition and addressing mental health topics, including the associated shame and stigma. I have experience assisting numerous college & graduate students, including international students adjusting to life in the United States, particularly in demanding environments such as higher education. I am committed to assisting women who are considering pregnancy, managing fertility/ infertility issues, transitioning into motherhood, and dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault. I support adults dealing with relationship issues, career and life changes, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, as well as existential crisis. I employ Eclectic therapy, which adjusts to the individual needs of each patient based on their specific issues, treatment goals, and personal expectations and motivation. I specialize in therapeutic approach that recognizes and centers on understanding various types of traumatic experiences affecting individuals. Finding a therapist can be a challenging and overwhelming process. There may be times in one’s life when we experience emotional difficulties and need professional guidance to work through these issues. Are you stuck? Overwhelmed? Unsure of who you are and what you want? My style is compassionate, intuitive and direct. I offer an empowered approach to healing. I empower you to become a conscious co-creator of your life. I use my own life experiences to assist you in shedding shame and getting unstuck. I use tools, education and workshops to empower and enlighten you. I view symptoms as a sign one is out of alignment with their truth, rather than as a symptom to be treated. When we were not mirrored properly as children, we get stuck settling for less than we deserve in our life, work + relationships as adults. Emotional neglect erodes self-trust and lowers self-worth. I help you clear the lens you see yourself through.

That’s why our approach is trauma‑informed, holistic, and culturally humble, addressing not just symptoms, but the deeper roots of stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout.

Healing doesn’t have to feel so heavy all the time. Life can be tough, but your therapy journey doesn't have to be. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just trying to understand what on earth is going on, I’m here to help with compassion, curiosity, and (yes!) even a dash of humor. My goal is to help you feel heard, empowered, and equipped with the tools to create a life you truly enjoy. Along the way, we’ll celebrate the small wins, unpack the big stuff, and maybe even laugh a little. Growth is serious work, but it doesn’t have to feel that way the entire time.

Hello! I'm Elsie, and I understand the power of human connection, especially when things feel tough. I work with people navigating life changes, body image struggles, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression. I remember clearly the complexities and challenges of college life and would be honored to support you during this unique era of yours.
Starting or returning to college can bring up unique challenges—navigating relationships, managing stress, adjusting to new independence, or figuring out who you are and what you want. I work best with students who are thoughtful, curious, and open to exploring their inner world, even if that feels a little intimidating at first. Many of my clients are balancing academics with the ups and downs of friendships, family, dating, and questions about their identity. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming and welcoming to students of all backgrounds. I provide a calm and supportive space where you can slow down, untangle what feels overwhelming, and begin to feel more grounded. Whether you’re seeking clarity in relationships, support with stress or anxiety, or a place to process deeper emotions, therapy can be a meaningful step toward feeling more connected and at ease with yourself. I look forward to supporting you!
Life is full of transitions, some of our own choosing, others imposed upon us. The challenges involved in life altering experiences can sometimes feel overwhelming and therefore catalysts for common symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is when therapy can be especially helpful. I offer compassionate, client centered services designed to meet the individual where they are at while incorporating a mindful approach toward treatment. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand, cope with and resolve current challenges at hand. I have 20 years of clinical experience working with adults, families, couples, children and adolescents. My areas of expertise include a dialectical, evidenced based approach in treating symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, divorce, D.V., grief and loss, relational issues etc. Credentialed in a Positive Parenting Program (Triple P). I offer a variety of techniques in therapy while striving to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. These are likely to include dialogue, interpretation, mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, reframing, relaxation techniques, guided imagery, self-monitoring exercises, exploring family of origin, attachment, systems theory, multicultural frameworks, oppression awareness etc.
