Nancy S. Perry, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with over thirty years' experience working with adults and adolescents. Nancy has taken her extensive experience and training to create an effective (and popular!) Women’s Support and Skill Building group. This group is specifically designed for women dealing with difficult changes in life who are ready to learn and practice evidence-based techniques for managing and thriving through these transitions. Each group is limited to 6 women and meets weekly for 10 weeks (via zoom). Nancy brings the same creativity, warmth and compassion that she is so well known for to these groups. Our next group starts on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. This is an evening group; we begin at 7:00 and end by 8:30 p.m. Please give Nancy a call or email by NOVEMBER 10 to join us! 303-430-4136; nancyperrylcsw@gmail.com. Nancy S. e therapy is a journey to talk alongside you. Though I might be considered the "expert" in the areas in which you're looking for help, I also believe that you are the expert on you. I have a very collaborative and interpersonal style and though I use various empirically supported interventions to enhance with coping, the relationship between me and you is the most important thing. Change and growth are the goals of therapy. Change is a very subjective word, and it completely depends on where you are in your life when you come into therapy. I believe in working with the client together to form goals and a treatment plan, knowing that the plan will change along the way as the client experiences growth and change. Therapy is a proactive journey on the part of both client and therapist; sustainable and meaningful change stems from a combination of having a helpful guide, a sense of willingness, shared insight and working towards specific goals.
I help clients feel less anxious and more authentic in their relationships. I believe that many people experience struggle in their lives as a result of growing distant from their emotional compasses. I work with individual clients and couples to reconnect with these aspects of their experiences. While I work with clients of all genders, I hold a particular interest and expertise in working with men. I approach sessions with a compassion, humor, and directness. In my experience, change begins when we observe the way our patterns continue to lead to distress in our lives. I help clients identify approaches to shifting these patterns. Through this process, clients often find themselves feeling more authentic and fulfilled in their relationships. If you are interested in the approach described here, please reach out. I would love to hear from you.
We use a process of looking at the imagination, loose associations, and dream material to help integrate subconscious depths with conscious material. The invisible is welcome and we will work best to support you. Surprise us with the breadth of the unknown. We work with individuals, not issues.
I am a queer cis-woman of color, and an immigrant from Denmark and Comoros. I am passionate about fiercely challenging systemic oppression and empowering people to reclaim their innate power. As a somatic and social justice psychotherapist, I guide and empower clients in the discovery and celebration of your authentic self. Through both my work and my own lived experience, I have developed a critical awareness of the relationship between trauma and oppression. In the therapy room, you are able to gain bodily awareness and skills on how you can move more fluidly in expressing and embodying you own unapologetic truth that is too often silenced by society I specialize working with marginalized populations, including people of color, QTPOC, bilingual individuals, immigrants, queer people, and trans and gender non-conforming individuals. As a multilingual psychotherapist, I provide counseling in English, Spanish, French and Danish. I provide both in-person and video sessions. Talking to someone who can and does understand, helps. And it can help even further if your therapist can guide you into deeper understandings of what you are going through and how you are going through it. Some ways of dealing are more optimal than other. My job is to enable you to see the many paths available to you and strengthen your courage to make your best and most conscious choices.
I believe in empowering my clients to access and to unfold to their own inner wisdom and brilliance. Rather than providing all the answers or solutions, I facilitate a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can investigate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My academic journey has taken me to many different countries, and I am passionate about combining my interest in western psychology with the ancient wisdom of Buddhist psychology. I earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Canterbury University, New Zealand (2009) and her master’s degree in motivational psychology from the University in Zurich, Switzerland (2012). She also holds an additional master's degree from Naropa University in contemplative psychology. I bring my unique blend of experiences to her work. Among other adventures, I have worked in Zanskar Valley in Ladakh, Northern India and has studied psychology in Nepal, Indian. I have also taught Yoga and Yoga therapy to athletes. I take a trauma informed approach to therapy, combining her training in Somatic Experiencing with other contemplative approaches as well as elements of IFS, Polyvagal, solution focused therapy, and positive psychology. It is an honor and an inspiration to witness a person’s growth. Being a part of that transformation is my passion and my life’s work. I am a transpersonal therapist, meaning that I hold a person’s emotional journey within the larger context of their overall spiritual path. Transpersonal psychotherapy is unique from traditional psychotherapy in that it views a person as a spiritual being who is having a human experience. From that perspective, the process of developing self-awareness is a remembering of the essential nature. Expanding one’s consciousness becomes a sacred unfoldment through which we begin to create ourselves and our lives intentionally. Through a delicate balance of self-love and self-honesty, we can begin to discern the persona we have created from the essence of who we are. As the ego, or personality, becomes increasingly easy to identify, we are able to recognize and resist its programming and begin taking ownership of our choices. Trying to control our external reality is exhausting and ultimately impossible, but our inner reality can be entirely of our choosing. True freedom and security is cultivated within and brings an unshakeable sense of peace to even life’s roughest waters.
In the process of learning to love yourself, your body, and others there is no such thing as setbacks. What we think as a setback is growing point, a learning point to lead us further in our relationship with ourselves and others. I have a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling, with a clinical focus in body image, couple and family relationships, anxiety, depression, and sexuality. I would love to be a witness to your story and build up the strengths that are already within you. I love working with young adults helping to uplift them in a times of difficulty. I have experience working in a variety of different areas including life transitions, depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, religious trauma and overall life stress. It would be an honor to navigate life’s struggles and joys in a therapeutic context with you. My intention is to hold your story as you strive for growth and healing.
