Therapists for college students near 80309
I'm an LGBTQIA+, anxiety, and trauma therapist, working with students across Colorado. Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, trauma, identity struggles, or the lasting impact of religious harm? Many of my clients are LGBTQIA+ adults or survivors of religious trauma who carry exhaustion, dread, and fear from living in systems that questioned, silenced, or shamed who they are. Clients also come to me with anxiety, which often shows up as hypervigilance, burnout, or the ache of feeling like you're not enough. You may long for healing and the freedom to be fully yourself. You are not alone, healing is possible, and your story matters. I provide affirming, trauma-informed therapy rooted in narrative, somatic, and liberation-focused practices. Together we’ll untangle harmful messages that have shaped you, teach your body to feel safe, calm your nervous system, and re-author the stories holding you back. You'll reclaim your identity while moving toward a more authentic and empowered life. As a queer-affirming, feminist, and anti-oppressive therapist, I offer care that is tender, respectful, and at the right pace for you. Whether you’re healing from trauma, recovering from a harmful spiritual background, or seeking growth beyond anxiety or hard life transitions, I'll walk with you in it. Feeling overwhelmed by college life? Between classes, deadlines, social pressure, and trying to figure out what’s next, it’s a lot. Maybe you’re struggling with imposter syndrome, a breakup, feeling isolated or lonely, or even questioning who you are and where you fit in. The loss of relationships, shifts in identity, anxiety, and depression can all pile up fast. You’re not alone—and you don’t have to push through it by yourself. I specialize in working with college students who are balancing academics, relationships, and personal challenges. Whether you’re navigating stress, self-doubt, loneliness, or a major life transition, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel confusing and overwhelming. Let’s work together to help you feel more confident, grounded, and in control of your journey.
I’m Victoria, and my superpower is helping women heal from anxiety and self-doubt to find confidence and self-love. As a second generation American from a multiracial background, I love to help clients explore the impact of their own cultural experiences. I also specialize in working with women with ADHD, new moms and postpartum mental health.
I help diverse populations, including individuals, families, and couples, navigate relationship challenges, trauma, addiction, self-esteem, and emotional struggles. My style is warm and engaging, utilizing an integrative, humanistic, and emotionally focused approach to support you in understanding patterns, building resilience, and creating healthier ways of relating to yourself and others. I’m passionate about the belief that healing happens through safe connection, self-compassion, and understanding our emotional experiences. If you’re looking to feel more understood, grounded, and connected to the life you desire, please reach out today. I believe in meeting people with compassion and curiosity, which helps me be a steady, supportive partner in your healing. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. Working together, you are empowered to start putting the pieces together in a collaborative and welcoming space, with therapy tailored to your unique story, values, and goals. I use emotionally focused and integrative approaches to help you feel safer, more connected, and more confident. After years working in higher education, and having lost people in my community to addiction, I felt called to help people more deeply, especially communities facing barriers, so they can heal and reach their full potential. I’ve seen firsthand the cultural and religious stigma around mental health, and I wanted to help people feel less alone and more willing to seek support. I continue to believe therapy can be preventive, not just a last resort, and am dedicated to being a source of safety and hope for those in need. I enjoy activities that allow me to connect with others, explore new places, and stay active and balanced. That’s why you’ll often find me in the great outdoors going on hikes and hitting the ski trails or cozied up at home baking and practicing yoga. I also love spending time with family and friends and traveling to new states and countries.
My goal for you is to provide a safe space that allows you to explore those areas of your life that are hindering you showing up as your best self. My practice style is one of a whole person approach, taking into consideration your own personal world, the interactions, challenges, successes and your supportive relationships. My practice approach is tailored to your needs and may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR/ Trauma Therapy, Goal-Oriented Brief Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, as well as yoga and meditation if that resonates with you and your path of healing. I practice from a non judgmental perspective and provide a safe environment to facilitate healing. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, feeling stressed and unbalanced or the loss of a loved one or relationship, I can help you work through challenges and develop goals to become grounded again. The path to becoming whole again can often take someone walking beside you and encouraging you, while facilitating the exploration of your own solutions. You know deep down in your heart of hearts what it is you may need, and I am here to help you draw on that inner resiliency, providing tools and skills that you can take with you as you face life head on.
I work well with clients experiencing anxiety, overcoming trauma, having relationship problems, or feeling uncertain about transitioning into the "real world." Licensed for telehealth in New York, Colorado, Utah, Virginia
Welcome, I'm glad you're here and walking your healing pathway. Therapy can be scary with fears of being judged over your thoughts and feelings. I offer a judgement free environment (don't we do enough to ourselves already) where you can explore new ideas, thoughts and feelings along your journey.

Hi, I’m Joanna Lester—founder of First Circle Therapy, a Colorado-based virtual practice. I specialize in working with college and grad students who are thoughtful, creative, and sensitive—but overwhelmed by the pressure to keep it all together. If you're juggling deadlines, relationships, family expectations, and big questions about who you're becoming, you might feel anxious, unmotivated, burned out, or just not yourself. You’re not alone—and therapy can be a space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what really matters to you. Our work can help you move through cycles of self-doubt, people-pleasing, or perfectionism and into a more grounded, self-led life. Whether you're processing trauma, navigating identity shifts, or learning to set healthier boundaries, I offer space to explore your inner world with clarity and care. In our sessions, we’ll use nervous system tools (to help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and feel more at ease) and parts work (to help the different sides of you—like the achiever, avoider, or inner critic—work together instead of against each other). You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. I offer free consultations to see if we’re a fit, and I accept several major insurance plans to make therapy more accessible. Feel free to reach out—no pressure.

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with eight years of combined clinical experience, my work is rooted in one simple belief: that quality mental health care should be accessible to everyone, at every stage of life. Specializing in medication management across the lifespan, I bring both clinical expertise and a deeply personal commitment to the patients I serve. Growing up as a first-generation American raised by Spanish parents, I understand firsthand how language and cultural barriers can stand between people and the care they deserve. That lived experience fuels my passion for culturally competent mental health care, and my dedication to ensuring that you feel truly understood and supported throughout your treatment. Evidence-based practice guides everything I do, because you deserve care that is both thoughtful and grounded in what works. You can expect an environment that is open, kind, and collaborative from our first meeting. Using a conversational approach to assessment and treatment planning, my goal is always to meet you where you are, not where anyone else thinks you should be. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, you are seen as a whole person, with your own story, values, and needs shaping the direction of your care. Every treatment plan we build together reflects that holistic perspective. Finding the right path forward is a partnership, and your voice matters every step of the way. My path to becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner began in an oncology office, where assisting patients receiving chemotherapy became far more than a clinical task. Sitting with people during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering conversation and a bit of warmth in the middle of something so difficult, revealed how profoundly meaningful human connection can be in a care setting. These experiences made it clear that mental health was where my work was meant to go. That early foundation continues to inform the care offered today, reminding me that presence, compassion, and genuine attention are just as important as clinical skill. When not at work, you'll likely find me out on the trails with my dogs, gliding across the ice figure skating, moving through a Pilates session, or discovering new foods while exploring somewhere new. These pursuits keep me grounded and curious, qualities that carry right back into the care I bring to every patient.
Fundamentally, my aim is to support my clients in contacting their inner self-knowing, and "make friends" with all of the various parts of themselves in the warmth and security of this inner space. To achieve this, I practice person-centered therapy, with a strong emphasis on somatic awareness. When working with clients, I am listening for "what wants to be heard" that day. In my view, I am a supportive and curious observer, and my job is to reflect back to my client what I am seeing. My style tends to be more direct, and I regularly encourage my clients to take ownership over their treatment and to trust themselves. In a first session with me, we explore where you've been, where you are, and where you would like to go. Often, I invite people to tell me their story and then describe their current situation. We will work together to assess what feels like the most supportive areas of focus, and will create some goals which guide our future sessions. During this process, however, you can still expect curiousity, empowerment, and validation. What's most important in any session is establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.
Change is not linear. I have come to understand the numerous challenges in life that can make you feel as if you have gone nowhere. The anxiety that sets in is alarming and the depression that may later consume you feels debilitating. However, I have also come to understand the impact that we have on our own suffering: how we often jump to "I can't" instead of "I can try." We have all found ourselves deep in self-doubt, feeling stuck in the symptoms of depression and anxiety. Are you looking for a chance to see how change and success can become more linear overtime? My approach can help you get there. My early experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) has allowed me to mold the foundations of DBT with other empirically supported treatments (MI, CBT) to fit the needs of my clients. A combination of skill use, gentle challenging of core beliefs and thought distortions, as well as strengths recognition has proven effective with a variety of clients. My ultimate goal as a therapist is to provide a supportive environment that serves as a safe space for you to challenge yourself. I assist my clients in developing a natural reaction of "radical acceptance" in an effort to decrease overall suffering. Together, we can create a mindset that helps you to see your own strengths in any given situation.

Experienced in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, I am passionate about helping patients improve their overall well-being and quality of life. I have more than 15 years’ expertise in various settings and roles, helping adults navigate struggles with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, postpartum and related women's mental health issues, grief, and schizophrenia. I value a collaborative approach to treatment, working closely with you and partnering with medical and mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive, individualized care. Improving lives with mental health care begins through collaborative care. That’s why I empower you to take an active role in your treatment, emphasizing education, shared decision-making, and the use of evidence-based practices for diagnosis and treatment. I believe that medication is most effective when paired with therapy, healthy coping strategies, and supportive interventions, so I utilize all approaches to help you achieve your healing needs and goals. Mental health has always been a part of my life. My father worked in mental health as an Occupational Therapist, and my mother was considered a specialist in Autism, ADHD, and IDD as an Occupational Therapist. When I was 9, my brother entered the world with neurodivergence, and I had to adapt and learn quickly to support him. These lifelong experiences led me to become an advocate for patients, driving me to work collaboratively with them, treat holistically, and provide education. Outside of clinical work, I enjoy attending comic conventions, exploring new experiences with my two young children, 3-D printing projects with my husband, thrifting, collecting crystals and minerals, and crafting.

I use a person-centered therapeutic lens, promoting self-awareness and acceptance with clients. Together, we can work to help you find self-empowerment, fulfillment, self-discovery, and growth. The most important part of building a therapeutic relationship is to know that I am not the expert of your life. I use empathy and create a non-judgmental environment, allowing humor and the collaborative effort to work towards realistic goals. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease to tell your story and work on the current challenges taking place in your life. I want this to be a team effort and establish the goals you are wanting. My role is to provide comfort and support, as you develop and discover through the therapeutic process.
