With nearly 20 years of experience as a mental health counselor, I bring a compassionate, easy-going approach to therapy, creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their challenges and build resilience. My practice integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused interventions, to address a wide range of mental health concerns. I am particularly passionate about the role of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and personal growth. By incorporating these practices, I help individuals cultivate self-awareness, manage distress, and develop healthier coping strategies. Whether working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to navigate life’s complexities with greater clarity and confidence. My therapeutic style is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I believe in meeting clients where they are, tailoring treatment to their unique needs, and fostering a sense of balance and well-being.
Hello! I’m glad you found me. I have been a therapist for a long time and have recently opened up my own practice in Southaven, MS. I would be honored to work with you to find solutions to whatever is troubling you at this point in your journey. Please reach out by email or phone/text and I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I will support you where you are and help you to get to where you would like to be. My practice name is Healing Home and this name is based on the idea that we all need a place to heal, a safe place to belong, to grow, a place to call home. Finding peace with oneself and with others can be found at the Healing Home.
Whether you’re facing a challenge or simply looking for growth, therapy can help. My hope is to accompany you as you move toward healing, wholeness, and flourishing. In therapy, I seek to embody a nonjudgmental, honest, and compassionate presence. You will find an environment where you can share freely and work on what’s most important to you. You will be equipped with tools and skills that will enable you to reach your goals. I have training in multiple modes of research-backed therapy, and I consistently pursue ongoing training. I tailor my approach to your specific needs. I use methods from CBT, DBT, ACT, family systems, and mindfulness. I believe in your capacity to heal, change, and grow. It can be hard, but we can do hard things–we've done it before. Call or email me today for a free consultation.
I enjoy living in the corners and at the fringes of what stereotypical therapy might look like. It is important to me that those who are outcasts, quirky, different, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and the marginalized feel heard. When we work together, I want you to feel like you matter (because you do). If you like the utilization of tarot and oracle cards, we can incorporate that. If you need resources on affirming places to practice spirituality, we can look at those. If you want to talk about kink communities and how to get involved with them, we can find them. Whatever works for you works for me, and I want to help you figure that out.

I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression or have been through tough times and want to heal from trauma. College specifically can be a difficult time emotionally, moving into adulthood and living on your own for the first time. Therapy can be a great way to process these changes, learn new ways to cope with stress, and get resources and support. I'd love to chat.
College, graduate school, and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma, sexual assault, or substance use concerns can make this time especially challenging. At Modern Talk, we specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and emerging adults. Our clinicians understand the unique demands of this stage of life and have extensive experience helping students navigate both everyday stressors and more complex emotional challenges. Several members of our team have worked within university counseling settings, including New York University's Wellness Exchange, supporting students through academic, social, and personal transitions. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, we're here to help. We provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

There are so many things outside of our control that are inevitably difficult to cope with. Even with the unforeseen situations and stressors that life throws our way, the one thing we do have control over is the way we respond to them. However, it is difficult to know how to respond when we are experiencing fear, anxiety, and other heightened emotions. I want to help people strengthen their coping capabilities in an environment that is open, non-judgmental, and collaborative. My goal is to provide support to individuals, couples, and families tackling every day and life stressors with more confidence, hope, self-empowerment. I have been working in mental health for 5 years and have over 5,800 hours of supervised and specialized experience with OCD, anxiety, and ED. I use CBT, ACT, ERP, BA, and DBT Skills to treat a variety of disorders including OCD, skin picking, hair pulling, hoarding, phobias, BDD, GAD, social anxiety, panic, depression, eating disorders, and others. I am a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH) and a multi-state licensed professional counselor including Tennessee (LPC-MHSP), Kentucky (LPCC), Illinois (LCPC), Oklahoma (LPC), and FL. I currently live in the Chicago area and provide professional counseling to individuals in ALL FIVE states via TeleMental Health services. I look forward to connecting with you!

I’ve had the privilege of working with many college students navigating these same challenges. Together, we’ll focus on strategies that help you manage stress, enhance your emotional well-being, and develop healthy coping skills. It’s not easy having feelings of “not belonging” and “not knowing how to fit in” – questioning “who am I” and “how can I be seen?” Wondering where your people are and then wondering “are these my people?” How to connect while allowing yourself to be vulnerable while allowing yourself to be safe while allowing yourself to experience the full experience of life … Mental / emotional health is a vital necessity for success in life; to be able to make clear decisions without doubt or fear or to practice compassion toward the self instead of letting insecurities take root or judging the self harshly. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can be debilitating and create interference in meeting daily demands – creating low motivation, low energy, a sense of excessive worry or irritability, struggling with concentration / focus or delaying making decisions; or becoming fearful of failing or of losing something valuable. My name is Laura, and I have over 25 years’ experience as a licensed mental health counselor; most of my focus has been on helping young adults make the transition from dependence to independence; to identify and support their own values and ideas for their own future. To assist the process of developing coping strategies to manage life and learning how to recognize and walk through emotional responses; I would like to be of assistance in helping you make the transition toward your mental health and recovery journey. I also have extensive experience in assisting individuals heal from traumatic events, to embrace a release from the emotional impact locked into the memories of the trauma. Providing an opportunity to allow the traumatic event to remain in the past and no longer interfere with your present. Please reach out to me via email or text me at 317-296-3279 if you have any questions and let's figure out how I may be of help to you.
