Melvinik Simmons was born and raised in Brownsville Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in a single parent household in the projects of Brooklyn was challenging. Where she comes from truly makes her the person she is today. "I saw everything that you can imagine, drugs, violence, even witnessing my childhood friend jump off a building". She knew at a young age people were "broken and felt helpless". Melvinik’s passion and mission is to inspire people and work with them to achieve their goals. "I am not only a therapist, but I care a great deal about my clients who I work with". "I am you and you are me" My mission is to help heal broken hearts. "I have been through a lot of what you may be going through, and I am here to tell you that healing is possible". Melvinik has been in the helping profession for over 20 years. She specializes in depression, grief/loss, anxiety and PTSD. She was a social worker for several foster care agencies, a supervisor for a crisis unit, a counselor for YMCA, and a therapist in the behavioral health department for several years at Richmond University Medical Center (N.Y) and St Luke University Health Network (P.A.). She has been in private practice (Talk Trust Heal LLC) for 4 years providing virtual therapy to clients in N.Y. P.A. and S.C. where she currently resides. She has an integrative approach combined with different styles, modalities, and methods to promote wellness. "I don't have a "one size fit's all approach" I immediately like to start where my clients are and offer a non-judgmental platform where they are able to talk in a safe environment. She is dedicated and committed to her clients and their mental health. Her motto is "Trust the therapeutic process, talk about the presenting issues and heal".
Hi! I'm Diane, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I have experience working alongside individuals with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and adjustment concerns. I employ an eclectic approach that includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness and problem-solving techniques, along with others, to assist you. I am not certified in a specific approach; however, I have had training and experience with each. I am grateful you have started the journey to begin mental health counseling; I can understand how scary this may be for you. I am here to help you process situations and build skills to aid you in overcoming your challenges. I believe one of my greatest strengths is building rapport to determine how to best be present for you, through empathy and active listening, in a judgment free space, and walk with you on this journey. Counseling is not a 'one size fits all' endeavor and I will spend time getting to know you to determine what best fits you as an individual.

Current openings for new clients are available as of 9/1/2021. Throughout our lives, experiences we have can lead us to feel disconnected in various ways, from our own sense of self and values, important people in our life, and our emotions. This disconnection can result in feelings of loneliness and isolation, lack of motivation, overwhelming anxiety, or uncertainty about who we are and what we want in life and it often leads to unhealthy ways of coping (e.g., emotional eating, focusing too much on work, lack of self-care, etc.). My focus in working with clients is to help them reconnect with themselves, with others, and with their emotions so that they can lead a more satisfying life filled with meaningful relationships and purpose. My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in a modern psychodynamic orientation. As such, I value the development of a strong therapeutic relationship and meaningful connection with clients. Together, we work on understanding unhealthy patterns and improve ability to cope with distress, manage multiple life roles, live a more balanced life, and connect more fully with emotions. I am especially passionate about working with college-aged students and athletes who may be experiencing eating and/or body image concerns, as well as issues related to men and masculinity. . I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Penn State University and completed my internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Penn State University.

I provide a safe, comfortable, and empowering space for those willing to explore.

I've served college students in the university setting for over 20 years, as an academic advisor and counselor on multiple campuses. I have specific experience working with students to help them navigate personal, academic, career, social, stress, wellness, and relationship issues. I have enjoyed particularly assisting students in exploring their identities, managing stress, creating successful academic and experiential strategies and schedules, motivation, selecting a major, deciding up on a career focus, addressing anxiety and depression, navigating life changes, improving relationships, and growing their confidence and self-esteem. I implement practical, goal-oriented treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, and Psychoeducation to help clients recognize thoughts and behaviors that are no longer serving them as they incorporate new strategies for moving forward. I believe that a strong therapeutic rapport is the heart of meaningful growth in therapy. When we feel truly seen, heard, and understood, we are better able to explore our experiences, reflect on our patterns, and take steps toward change. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and comfortable to be themselves, no matter what challenges they may be facing. My approach to therapy is person-centered, which means I value each client’s unique perspective and believe that you are the expert of your own life. I work alongside my clients, offering support, guidance, and encouragement as we navigate the journey together. I strive to meet people where they are, honoring their pace while helping them uncover new insights and tools for growth. I hold a Master’s degree in Art Therapy with a Specialization in Counseling and am a Registered Art Therapist. Creativity can be a powerful way to explore feelings and experiences that are difficult to put into words. In sessions, I often incorporate art and the creative process to help clients process emotions, gain clarity, and express themselves in new ways. Whether through drawing, painting, collage, or other forms of artmaking, this approach allows for deeper self-understanding and healing beyond traditional talk therapy. I also bring personal experience to my work, having navigated the loss of my father at a young age. Experiencing grief firsthand has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of loss. This experience informs my approach to grief therapy, allowing me to connect with clients in a compassionate and authentic way. In addition to my art therapy work, I am currently pursuing my Animal-Assisted Therapy Certificate. I am excited to soon integrate my therapy dog-in-training, Bear, into sessions as a comforting and supportive presence. Animals can offer a unique kind of connection and grounding that supports emotional regulation and overall well-being. I have experience working with children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, including partial hospitalization, inpatient, residential treatment, and outpatient therapy. My specialties include supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and significant life transitions. I am especially passionate about working with clients during times of change—whether it’s starting a new school, transitioning to college, beginning a new career, or navigating changes in relationships or identity. No matter your reason for seeking therapy, my hope is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your inner world, discover your strengths, and find meaningful ways to move forward.

Within a few sessions, we will build a rapport that can serve as a home for getting better perspective on the difficult experiences you have had. You will soon feel confidence and clarity of mind return, and you will see relationships improve. Online sessions provide you with the convenience you may need during these busy years.
