Change is a constant in life, and as a therapist, I believe in empowering my patients to embrace it. My goal is to allow you to free yourself from harmful patterns of behavior through self-expression, and to challenge your beliefs in a safe environment. I encourage you to explore your emotions freely during our sessions, without judgment or restraint. Our time together will allow you to feel heard and understood. Together we can work towards a better understanding of your wants, needs, and identities. I encourage you to reach out.

I work primarily with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, and general life stressors. I have many years of experiencing working at different universities in the Pittsburgh area, which is helpful to my work with students as I am particularly knowledgeable about resources, common stressors students at each school experience, and how best to navigate university systems when you are struggling emotionally. I am experienced in supporting international, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ students. I have a warm, conversational style, and am adept at helping students gain skills and discover tools for managing their emotional struggles at the pace that works best for them.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing diagnostic assessment and evidence based psychotherapy for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. I have diagnosed and treated a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders in inpatient, emergency, outpatient, and telehealth settings. I also have specialized training in treating adolescents and young adults with co-occurring physical and mental health conditions. I use a collaborative approach to create an individualized treatment plan that capitalizes on existing strengths and aligns with patients' short- and long-term goals for treatment. I obtained my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Case Western Reserve University, followed by a clinical internship at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. My postdoctoral research training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine focuses on promoting well-being during life transitions among individuals and families experiencing chronic stress. Asking for help or support can be scary. Making that step to get therapy takes a great deal of strength. Therapy gives people the opportunity to develop effective and healthy responses to life's stressors. I work to create a safe holding environment to allow you to feel comfortable being yourself. I work with clients to help them develop awareness over their behaviors, thoughts, patterns, and feelings. I like to get to the source rather than just focus on the symptoms. I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship stress, parenting, ADHD, identity exploration, assertive communication, self-esteem, and grief. We will work at your pace. It's about progress, not perfection. I work with you to help you empower yourself. I offer free 15 minute consultations. If you would like a free consultation, you may email or call me. You are in charge of who you want to work with. Reach each out if you would like to explore working together.

My counseling philosophy is grounded in trauma-informed practices, meaning I value collaboration, empowerment, and emotional and physical safety above all else. In time, clients will gain a richer understanding of themselves while working towards self-determined goals. I am especially attuned to those experiencing LGBT issues, trauma, and depression, as well as various non-monogamous relationships and organizing for social justice. As a social worker and through lived experience, I am highly aware of the daily social, institutional, and communal injustices that impact different historically oppressed people. To supplement a trauma-informed practice, I utilize CBT, Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, narrative, and solution-focused therapies when supporting a client. For those working towards understanding unconscious bias based on race, ability, class, or creed, I take an antiracist, intersectional, and systems approach to foster growth and accompliceship development. Reaching out to a new therapist can feel overwhelming and intimidating. I want to recognize the courage you have to start this journey and encourage you to take the next step. When you're ready, contact me and I'll get back to you shortly. For the fastest response, please contact me through email.

I know that making the decision to seek help can bring up difficult feelings, which is why as a therapist I seek to create an honest, authentic, and supportive relationship with my clients. By creating a sense of safety with one another we can work together to address your most immediate concerns, while simultaneously using our time as an opportunity to develop a deeper relationship with yourself and your experiences. I practice from an Existential-Integrative perspective, incorporating elements from psychodynamic, interpersonal and experiential techniques in my work with clients. This approach extends beyond your symptoms and into an exploration of what it means for you to live a fulfilling life, as well as what may be holding you back. Wellness is experienced differently by everyone and together we can explore what it means for you to live well and begin the process of working towards that together. I have experience working with those struggling with experiences of depression, anxiety, and interpersonal concerns.

Hi. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly 25 years of experience. I specialize in supporting college students during times of change, challenges, losses, or mental health symptoms. I strive to help students better understand and navigate their experiences and make meaningful changes. I support self-compassion, perspective taking, discovery, and skill development. I’m flexible in my approach, and believe in personalizing scientifically proven methods to best fit your needs. I also can help you clarify, or confirm a diagnosis (i.e., label), of your mental health experiences. As an Interpersonal Therapist (IPT), my approach is a great fit for college students, who often face major transitions and challenges during school and emerging adulthood. For some students, we also focus on building healthy daily routines. Life changes can throw off routines, especially things like sleep schedules, which can worsen mental health symptoms. I help students create routines that support their well-being.

I think that therapy doesn’t have to be complicated. As a client you can expect to highlight your strengths, speak to your individual experience in a non-judgmental environment, receive unconditional support from someone you trust, and learn new ways to lessen your pain. I specialize in self-esteem and compassion, healthy relationships, kink and poly-friendly, diet culture recovery / Health At Every Size, and spirituality. Besides these topics, I also have extensive experience in a variety of other life issues. Contact me to discuss this more; I would like to help you through your personal challenges. Making the choice to start therapy is a deeply personal one; I wholeheartedly believe in each individual’s right to choose who they bring on their journey of healing and fulfillment. I hope that I can be your guide through that process.

I enjoy working with individuals who are interested in promoting well-being in themselves and in relation to others. Mindfulness instruction is available as a key component of my therapy should this focus be desired. Studies have shown that a regular practice of mindfulness supports an enriched experience of life, feelings of well being, better ability to cope with stress and pain, reduced panic, anxiety, and fear and better concentration. While my private practice setting is refreshing and tranquil with views of trees and birds, I currently only offer tele-health, accessible from the comfort of your own home or office. A mindfulness practitioner since 1986, I began developing the application of mindfulness for specialty disorders in 1997 for clients (anxiety, panic, Attention Deficit Disorders, concussion, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, and other cognitive and neurological disorders). This work has been highly successful and rewarding. I am a warm and caring professional who spends the time required with each client. I am a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher and ordained by Teacher Thich Nhat Hanh. I offer neuropsychological assessment of learning and attention disorders for children and adults and day long mindfulness workshops and groups. Neuropsychological and Academic testing does accommodations is currently suspended until further notice due to COVID-19.
