Marriage & Family Therapist

Life can get really tough sometimes and I think we all need a place to come and just BE REAL with another person. Vent feelings, share thoughts that one is not really comfortable sharing with close friends and family, just lay it all out however messy. ABOUT ME: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and New York with over 15 years in the field. I got my Masters degree in Integral Counseling Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA in 2008. My areas of study was Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Creative Arts Therapy. I believe that finding the right match with a therapist is crucial. It’s like dating, you have to keep looking until you find some chemistry, a click, and feel like the person really gets you. I work primarily with individuals and unfortunately am not accepting couples into my practice at this time. I build resilience by teaching skills to manage anxiety, depression, life's ups and downs, be it learning to be kinder to yourself or learning to manage feelings when relationships change. My style of therapy is warm, compassionate, honest, and direct. I welcome your mess. We can sort through the piles together and see if we can't come out with some gold.

Marriage & Family Therapist
White Plains, NY

I am a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families in navigating the complexities of relationships. My initial motivation for pursuing Marriage & Family Therapy was my desire to support and uplift families, particularly in areas where seeking mental health services is still stigmatized. I have experience working with sexual, physical, emotional, racial, and intergenerational trauma as a trauma therapist. I've also had training in Gottman therapy, so I can address your concerns in couples therapy. I am bilingual providing therapy in English as well as Spanish. My practice, which is based on a systems framework, places a strong emphasis on providing a secure and accepting environment where clients can discuss issues, develop relationships, and explore obstacles. I am a strong proponent of collaborative therapy, where clients and I work together to develop objectives and tactics that will lead to positive change. Whether it's dealing with communication problems, handling life changes, or handling interpersonal disputes, my mission is to enable people and families to create happier, healthier relationships. I treat each client's individual background and values with sensitivity and respect in my therapy, having a great appreciation for diversity and cultural nuances.

Welcome to Westchester Parent and Child Therapy At Westchester Parent and Child Therapy, we recognize that each person enters therapy as a unique individual with their own upbringing and life experiences. However, none of us exist in a vacuum—we are all shaped by the relationships, families, and environments that surround us. Our past influences our present, and through therapy, we can explore these connections, gain insight, and create a path toward healing and growth. By understanding how our family of origin and broader systems impact us, we can break unhelpful patterns, foster meaningful change, and build a future that aligns with our values and emotional well-being. Our Team Our team includes licensed clinicians, provisionally licensed clinicians, and master's-level interns. Our licensed therapists, credentialed in NY, NJ, and CT, bring extensive experience across various therapeutic modalities. Provisionally licensed clinicians receive supervised training as they work toward their terminal licensure, and our master's level clinical interns provide fresh insights while working under close supervision. Our Services We offer therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups. Our individual therapy services help clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Couples counseling focuses on strengthening communication and resolving conflicts, while family therapy supports improving relationships and fostering understanding. I have been working in the outpatient setting for over 10 years. I've rotated through a student mental health clinic during my training and have worked with many college aged students. College can be an exciting time of change and growth and finding purpose and connection. College can also be a big adjustment, as you acclimate to a new setting, new responsibilities and being away from home for an extended period, sometimes for the first time. It is often during these big life changes that you may need a little extra help settling in, getting into new routines. Through a combination of therapy and careful use of medication, we can work on getting you in a place to fully engage in and enjoy your college experience.

PVD Psychological Associates (PVD Psych) is a private psychology practice on the East Side of Providence, Rhode Island. Our mission is to provide the greater Rhode Island area with exceptional therapy, offering cutting edge and research-supported treatment by a team of highly trained therapists. We offer therapy for adults, college students, and adolescents struggling with anxiety, school/career concerns, eating disorders, infertility and women's health issues, and relationship difficulties. PVD Psych is a LGBTQIA-affirmative practice, and is one of few Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island LGBTQ Safe Zone certified providers. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to respectful and affirming, high quality care. My areas of specialization and interest include: women's issues, depression, anxiety, stress management, and working with LGBTQIA-identified individuals and family members. I practice primarily from a relational-dynamic perspective, though I also incorporate techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and narrative approaches to address and tailor treatment to the unique and individual needs of each client. In my work as a therapist, I focus on understanding early experiences and how psychological well-being can be fostered through relationships. I believe change and healing come through relationships: our relationships with ourselves, as well as our relationships with others. I view therapy as a collaborative process that allows both therapist and client to grow and change. My clients describe me as an empathetic, active listener who approaches their concerns with caring, respect, pragmatism, and sometimes, humor. I'm honored that you're considering working with me and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Please feel free to contact me.

Finding someone you feel comfortable with is important when searching for a therapist. Clients say I am warm, compassionate and non-judgmental, and provide a comfortable, relaxed and safe environment. My style is down to earth, and you will find it easy to talk to me and feel understood. My clients are individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, employment or relationship problems, or various life transitions. They may feel anxious, sad, angry, frustrated, depressed or confused. Sometimes they feel overwhelmed by their feelings, relationships, or life circumstances. Managing work or school, family and friendships is often demanding and stressful. I use an interactive approach to help clients re-examine fixed patterns of behavior that keep them stuck in unsatisfying situations. Past experiences, including relationships, can sometimes overload our thoughts and feelings. Increased awareness and new insights can often free clients to make more authentic and creative choices. I help clients find and build on their strengths, so that no matter what the reasons were that brought them to therapy, they become able to appreciate themselves in a deep and lasting way. Taking the step to call someone takes courage, and I look forward to receiving your call.
