I love working with adults (age 18 and up) on anxiety, depression, relationship stress, grief, and body image issues. I enjoy educating clients about attachment theory and helping people learn how to cope when their attachment styles are triggered. I have been a therapist since 2017 and bring a lot of experience to my practice. I am very warm and funny, but can be direct when it is appropriate. My goal is to help clients learn in session, so I do provide feedback. I like teaching clients about boundaries and how to effectively communicate them.

My name is Laura Fisher-Caudill (she/her), and as a trauma therapist and human, I am excited to get to know you. As a highly sensitive, empathetic person with big emotions, I love helping other empathetic humans heal from past trauma. As someone who’s experienced mental health struggles and complex trauma throughout my life experience, it’s been incredibly rewarding to provide a space where people can create meaningful connections between their past experiences and current realities and work towards healing from past trauma to find their own inner control, wisdom, and growth in the process. I am deeply committed to helping clients I work with find their inner strength, resilience, and the tools they need to heal from the past and create a life filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment. My goal is to empower others in learning effective tools for navigating emotional distress and unburdening the pain of past trauma to create their lives worth living! My clients often describe themselves and their experiences as: Cycle breakers in their family systems. They often have lived experience as the “golden child” or “scapegoat” in their family of origin and may struggle with boundary setting or understanding the impact of childhood dynamics on their relationships and trauma responses in the present. Adult children of parents who were/are emotionally immature and/or have narcissistic behavior patterns. Complex traumatic experiences throughout their lifetimes, such as emotional invalidation or emotional trauma/neglect, criticism, and/or judgment by caregivers, being parentified early in life or expected (either overtly or covertly) to caretake emotional needs of their parents and not have needs of their own, being placed in the role of peacekeeper in their family system, and may have experienced sexual, physical, or other forms of abuse as well. Living with a chronically dysregulated nervous system due to experiences of complex traumatic events throughout their lives, often beginning at a very young age. Somatic, or body based, symptoms of complex trauma, such as chronic pain, illness, stored emotions in hips, shoulders and other areas of the physical body. Neurodivergent, specifically being highly sensitive to sensory experiences, emotionally intense, empathetic humans who identify as being gifted and/or having ADHD. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives back from trauma, and I believe trauma therapy is more important now than ever. I believe the mind/body connection is very strong, and is important in mental health. I also work with clients who are experiencing stress, life transitions, and grief. I am an EMDRIA certified Therapist and IFS informed. I also use a lot of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness interventions. I am also very strengths- based. In my sessions, I aspire to offer a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to my clients, so they can be themselves, and work through whatever is keeping them from being their best selves. I operate through a strengths-based approach, and will try to bring laughter and humor into the sessions (when appropriate) as laughter is the best medicine.

I've assisted clients through their journey with grief, PTSD, relationship stresses, depression, and mood disorders for the past 5 years. If you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, depression, isolation, or anxiety I am happy to assist you in uncovering the source of these concerns and work with you toward getting back to a more positive place in your life.
Life is hard. Wherever you are currently, our guess is it’s not exactly the way you had envisioned it when you were a kid. Some of that is because of our own choices and mistakes; other parts are from bad hands we were dealt along the way. Regardless of how you got here, we know one thing to be true: You want your life to be different than it is right now. The problem is how to make that happen. There is an endless number of opinions on what you should do and, if we’re honest, it can be overwhelming trying to decide which route is best for you. We believe counseling is a great place to start. In fact, since 2018, we’ve helped more than 1,000 people go from barely getting by to having the tools they need to experience life in a different way than before. While the idea of counseling might be scary, we know how hard life can be and believe you shouldn’t have to face your problems alone. At Lime Tree, we match you with a therapist who is right for you and what you’re dealing with. From there, you and your counselor will create goals for your time together and you will get a personalized plan as you move forward. We walk with you through the entire process with quality and compassionate care the whole way. Getting started is easy: simply reach out on our website or through a phone call. Our Client Care Coordinator will work with you to get you matched with the right therapist and schedule your first session. It’s not healthy to do life alone. Reach out today so you can get unstuck, enjoy the day-to-day, and begin to thrive in life.
You don't have to be in crisis to talk to a therapist. A lot of the students we work with come in because they're stressed, stretched thin, or trying to make sense of something they've been carrying for a while. At Banyan Tree Counseling & Wellness, we offer a steady, judgment-free space where you can be yourself, and our therapists partner with you to figure things out together. Beyond therapy, we also offer psychiatric medication management and nutritional services so you can get well-rounded care in one place, in person at our North Carolina locations or online, and we welcome students of every background, identity, and story.
