I grew up here in North Carolina, hailing from Fayetteville. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte in 2012 where I started out working with at-risk youth in community based mental health. I now have over five years post-grad experience providing individual and group therapy. I continued providing a full range of services that helped individuals of various ages and families overcome addiction and mental health concerns along the way. Since graduating with my Masters of Social Work in 2016 from UNC Charlotte, I have worked primarily with college aged students within university counseling centers. I also enjoy supporting future generations in our mental health field by serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte since 2021. I enjoy working with tweens (12 and up), teens, young adults (18-24) to adults 24+. I celebrate you for taking the first step in this journey towards change - be it big or small. I will be here to support and empower you along the way! I look forward to working with you. Talk soon!
Though my therapeutic approach may vary slightly from person to person, it is always my priority to provide a safe, comfortable, welcoming environment where you feel secure in navigating life’s many ups and downs. I believe that a trusting, authentic relationship between client and therapist is the key to progress, so you’ll find that I also show up to the therapy room with authenticity, compassion, acceptance, and sometimes a little humor. I enjoy taking a laid back, curious approach to therapy so I can work to more fully understand an individual’s unique lived experience.
You push yourself to meet expectations—at work, in relationships, in every aspect of life—because failure isn’t an option. But no matter how much you achieve, that nagging voice in your head keeps telling you it’s not enough. You overanalyze your mistakes, replay conversations in your head, and wonder why you can’t just relax and feel good about where you are. The pressure is relentless. You feel like you’re sprinting toward an invisible finish line that keeps moving. The weight of expectations—your own and everyone else’s—presses down on you. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself that if you can just work harder, be better, prove your worth, you’ll finally feel okay. But deep down, you’re exhausted. And you’re starting to wonder: Does it really have to be this way? It doesn’t. Therapy can help you step off the hamster wheel of perfectionism and self-doubt. Together, we’ll identify what’s fueling the pressure, challenge the patterns that keep you stuck, and help you build a life that feels authentic, balanced, and actually fulfilling—on your terms. I help young adults and teens break free from perfectionism, self-doubt, and external pressures to build confidence and live authentically.

Maybe it’s unfinished business from childhood, the pressure to always have it together, or just a nagging sense that something is missing. I get it. Tara has an energetic laugh that puts clients at ease and enjoys playfully incorporating her love of sarcasm into her work with her clients. She has been known to lovingly call people out on their “bologna” when she hears it and is a great accountability partner. Tara is also incredibly empathetic and provides a warm and safe environment and a quiet listening ear when the situation calls for it. Noticing and reading nonverbal communication and body language is a skill Tara possesses in spades so she often learns a lot even from things that go unsaid. Tara is judgement free and she encourages you to be genuine and authentic. Tara is passionate about working with young adults who are struggling with life transitions or adjustments and those who experience anxiety due to "trying to do it all" and trying to be "everything for everyone". She knows and understands the pressures that our society puts on young adults and aims to help them regain control of the chaos and find some peace. Tara also loves guiding clients towards healing relationships and teaching more effective communication- whether it be with your spouse, a family member, or a co-worker/boss. Through their work together, Tara and her clients work to find tools and skills to improve the areas a client can change and ultimately work towards self-acceptance.

Do you find yourself having strong emotional responses to past events? Are you struggling to “Let go” or “Move on” from painful experiences? A typical Enduring Strength Counseling client is someone between the ages of 20-35, possibly a member of the military community, who answered yes to the questions above and is ready to begin their mental health journey but do not want to deal with the constraints and limitations of insurance companies. My clients pay for services directly and feel greater comfort and peace of mind to engage in counseling knowing that their care will not be denied.
