Therapists for college students near 27707
Many of the students I work best with share a common thread: they feel overwhelmed by the transition of college life and want a safe place to sort through it all. Some are managing anxiety, stress, or burnout from balancing classes, work, and relationships. Others are navigating questions of identity, independence, or self-confidence. What they all have in common is a desire for a supportive space where they can be honest about what’s hard and learn tools to feel more grounded. My approach is down-to-earth and collaborative, so if you’re looking for someone who understands the challenges of student life and wants to walk with you through them, you might find a good fit here.
Truth is I am tired! These are words that I have uttered multiple times during my life journey and I am sure you have as well. As a black boy growing up in the rural south, I know how hard it can be to find space to talk about the hard things. Most of the times we are taught to not have feelings and explore the individual, familial, and societal stressors that constantly impact our ability to honor ourselves. You might be looking for someone to bear witness to the pain and the hardships in your life to feel safe enough to get out of your head and into your body. As a therapist, I understand that healing is a journey and does not happen overnight. Progress is never linear, and my goal is to create space for the good, bad, and the ugly. You will be treated like a human and given the right to access all the parts of you that make you who you are without judgement. I am passionate about providing spaces where you can move from a place of survival to thriving while caring for the whole person. At the end of the day I want you to walk away feeling empowered and confident and today could be the right time to begin.

Hi, my name is Richard Howard and I am one of the licensed counselors here at Wright's Care Counseling Services. As the one setting up this account, I feel that it's necessary to include the practice as a whole rather than simply myself in case you as a patient have specific preferences as to who you would like to work with. Feel free to check it out and learn more about our practice. We provide in-office and telehealth (phone or zoom) counseling sessions and have offices in Greensboro, Asheboro, and Winston-Salem. We take private insurances as well as Medicaid.

Are you dealing with the effects of anxiety, depression, ADHD, or a mood disorder on you and your loved ones' lives? In today’s fast-paced society the stress and challenges of life are difficult enough by themselves, much less dealing with mental health issues on your own. Let me help you navigate a course to improved mental health so you can be your best self and thrive rather than just survive. I believe in a holistic approach to health, including mental health. My focus is on patient-centered care using a combination of medication, education, and therapy using evidence-based medicine and patient preferences to drive treatment. Appointments in 1 to 2 weeks, or less, pending confirmation of insurance. Will also work with your individual finances. I look forward to working with you on your journey. I am the Adultingcounselor! Let me help you figure out this thing called "Life". Going through a battle on your own is the norm (for some of us) but are “you” ready to change that narrative and create the life you deserve and desire. As you are adulting, we face hardships, both big and small. I believe that being an adult doesn’t stop you from being trapped/stuck in situations that are sometimes hard to face or get out of. Unfortunately, if these issues aren’t addressed, they can and will control our lives. When you change your thoughts, you change your life! We will discover your concerns about your purpose, both personally and professionally. Exploring and identifying your true self and meaning in life. Let me help you understand and manage unresolved issues, such as stress, burnout, financial stress, loss of sense of self, and more. Helping adults (18-30) navigate through counseling successfully, learn skills, and accomplish the life they want to live is my passion. We can’t stop how life happens, but we can change how we view it. If this is you, a family member, or someone you know. Let's get started today!

Feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or unsure of your next step? You’re not alone. I work with students who are navigating big transitions, juggling academic pressure, and trying to manage relationships, identity, and self-care all at once. Some come to me because they feel anxious, stuck, or easily overwhelmed. Others are working through past hurts, challenges with self-esteem, or patterns in friendships and dating that aren’t serving them. Our sessions are a space to slow down, sort through what’s on your mind, and find practical tools for coping, communicating, and building the life you want. I take a warm, collaborative approach — you bring your experiences, I bring strategies and perspective, and together we work toward change that feels realistic and sustainable. Whether you’re seeking a place to process feelings, learn new skills, or explore who you are, my goal is to make therapy a space where you feel understood, supported, and equipped to move forward.

Hey Hey! I'm Kayla (she/they)! Before I bore you with the therapy jargon, how about you get to know a little bit about who I am as a person first? If you catch me out around town, I am either bopping to the music in my headphones, reading, at a festival, or talking to a random stranger about their entire life story! I am a proud native of Charlotte, NC! I grew up helping out at my family’s restaurant, Sub One Hoagie House [shameless plug hehe] located in Uptown Charlotte. I can remember feeling so cool and infatuated by the idea that I had the opportunity to be so close to the Bank of America Stadium nearly every day of the week; which, until recently, I had still been calling the Panther’s Football Stadium… still sounds cooler to me! I have a passion for all things music; whether it be attending concerts, making music, or creating playlists that I am too scared to share with anyone else! In fact, I used to be one of the lead singers in a band where I'd travel on the weekends performing at weddings and other various corporate sponsored events. I've also been playing drums for over a decade and picked up guitar a few years ago; YouTube really comes in handy! I come from a very musical family if you hadn’t picked up on that :) Incorporating music, art, poetry/lyrics in sessions with clients is something I've seen to be very valuable, allowing my clients to tap into reflection and feeling that may otherwise be hard to express with just "regular ole'" talk-therapy! Those who know me would describe me as quirky, bubbly, and someone who has the ability to carry on a conversation with anyone, including a brick wall ☺ I love meeting new people while also continuing to build and foster the close relationships I already have. *Potentially* Fun Facts: - I like sunsets over sunrises. - I like music. -I like dancing. -I like talking. -I like the ocean. -I like mountainous terrain. -I like coffee. -I like smiling. -I like my dog (sometimes). - I like random facts. Okay.. Now, for the REAL reason you're here! I seek to provide a brave and encouraging space where clients are encouraged to speak from their own diverse and multicultural backgrounds, aiding in the ability to become more self-aware, self-accepting, and self-motivated. I co-create with clients to build a strong therapeutic relationship, discuss barriers to change, building self-encouragement, discussing techniques for change, and goal setting. I hope to help clients recognize limiting belief patterns and replace them with more functional and positive patterns of belief, behavior, and emotional expression. My approach to counseling combines elements of both Interpersonal and Developmental Psychotherapy, which focuses on the intersectionalities of a client’s development and their present behaviors, to help clients work toward productive change. Together, we will explore mutually agreed upon goals and treatment plans. Though it is impossible to guarantee any specific results regarding your goals or treatment plan, I assure you that I'll remain determined and attuned to your individual needs so you are able to achieve the best possible outcome. I welcome the opportunity to have a virtual meet and greet with you to determine whether we would be a great fit for one another in establishing a therapeutic relationship!
I am an associate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who sees teens and young adults adults facing a variety of challenges like anxiety, ADHD, depression, relationship issues, life changes and interpersonal conflict. My passion is working with student athletes. As a high school and travel softball coach of several years, I am uniquely qualified in helping young individuals develop mental health skills they can carry with them throughout life, both on and off the field/court. I see the concerns and needs of teens to be unique and require a different approach than one I may take with adults. Overall, I find it important to see individuals for all that they are, helping them to create their identity and see the value within themselves as a person and not just in what they do or how they perform. All people, but especially young people, want to feel heard and seen. I prioritize authenticity and relationship with clients - working to create a comfortable space of trust, understanding, and growth.
