Navigating academics and young adulthood can be a lot! Whether you're struggling with school related stress or something more personal, finding the right therapist can really help. A little about me - I first sought out therapy when I was in graduate school after going through a painful breakup. Therapy helped me get through that difficult time in my life as well as understand myself more deeply, work through familial conflict, and grow as a person. After about 7 years of working as the Assistant Director of a graduate program at Columbia University and doing a lot of personal growth work, I decided to go back to school for a second graduate degree in Social Work with a focus on mental health. I've been in clinical practice since 2012 and have been working with Duke University students since moving to Durham from NYC in 2019. My approach as a therapist is one of curiosity, connection, and compassion. I have advanced training in body-oriented psychotherapy, relational trauma, and EMDR but the most important thing I strive to provide is a place of safety where you feel heard and seen without judgement. I offer both in-person and Telehealth appointments. My office is located right across from the Target on Chapel Hill Blvd I'm happy to speak with you to answer any of your questions and to learn more about you. I can be reached via phone or text at 919-925-1028 by email at arezoupaksimalcsw@gmail.com To find out more about my practice: www.arezoupaksimalcsw.com

ANGER gets a bad reputation, and so sometimes we miss its purpose. Its purpose? To alert us to IMPORTANT NEEDS GOING UNMET! Problem is, when we’re angry we’re thinking in ways that get in the way of meeting those needs. I help people connect with the needs behind their anger, learn the words for talking about it in ways that increase the chances of being heard and respected, and find creative solutions. I help people identify the thoughts that cause their anger, and then I help them question those thoughts to discover their own insights and opportunities. By the way, people who learn these skills gain the option to apply them on their own without a therapist. In relationships, most people want the win-win -- as long as it really is a win-win and not more compromise! I enjoy helping people find mutually beneficial solutions. A word on inclusion: In my life I’ve been around the block and through the wringer, more than once. I’m not qualified to look down on anybody! I love my country and I’m friendly to people of all political persuasions, including yours. I invite you to call. I would like to hear what is important to you. Let’s talk about how we can work together to bring peace and understanding into your relationships and your inner world.

Hello, my name is Bob Risavi and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I work with adults from 21 to 100. I try to help them cope with and solve problems within their everyday lives. To do this I use several styles of therapy depending on the individual and their particular needs. There is no such thing as a one size fits all strategy. For example CBT therapy is very effective with many patients but psychodynamic therapy may be more effective for other individuals depending on circumstance. The bottom line is, I shape the therapy sessions with you to yield your desired result the best way possible. I believe the key to successful therapy is based on the trust and relationship built between therapist and client. I listen to you and will be a champion of your goals and efforts. Together we will design a path through the issues or crisis you face. You are never alone in this process. I return calls promptly. Being older I can relate to medicare clients due to life experience and clinical experience. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but with my skills, education and 20 years of experience I will help you utilize your strengths to face your challenges.
