I specialize in working with teenagers and young adults who are currently feeling the anxiety, overwhelm and pressure that come with this stage of life. Teenagers and young adults who feel the overwhelm and stress that comes with trying to be perfect and fitting into everything that comes with this age range, I am the therapist for you. With deep understanding, I hold hope that meaningful change is possible whether through individual, group or family therapy. Together we'll explore what might be underneath the withdrawal, burnout or shutdown response that comes with this pressure. We'll uncover patterns and build insight around what may no longer be working for you. From there, we'll create a practical plan with real tools to help you, your teen or young adult feel more confident.

I’m a therapist who believes you can be both deeply thoughtful and occasionally overwhelmed by your own brain—because, well, you’re human. I specialize in working with people navigating trauma, high-functioning anxiety, and/or depression—especially those who look like they “have it all together” on the outside while quietly carrying a lot on the inside. If you’re the reliable one, the overthinker, the person others turn to (but rarely pause to ask how you’re doing), you’re in the right place. I am a Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist. Together, we’ll create a personalized therapy experience that supports your goals—whether you want to reduce anxious thoughts, lift your mood, process trauma, or simply feel more grounded and at home in your body. If you are interested in a telehealth meeting from anywhere in Minnesota, please let me know! Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you make sense of your experiences, build resilience, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been buried under stress, expectations, or past pain. You don't need to carry it all on your own.

Hi, I’m Taiah. I provide virtual therapy for teens and adults, including individuals, couples, and families. I’m especially focused on neuro-affirming care and creating a space where neurodivergent students and others feel understood, respected, and not pressured to mask or fit a narrow idea of how they “should” communicate or function. I work with people navigating school stress, burnout, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and patterns that feel hard to shift. My approach is collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for meaningful change. I draw from CBT, DBT, strengths-based, and systemic approaches, and tailor support to each person’s needs, communication style, and goals. My goal is to make therapy practical, accessible, and grounded in real life. My background includes outpatient therapy, eating disorder care, and supporting families and couples impacted by substance use. I especially enjoy working with neurodivergent students, parents, couples, and families who want to build environments and relationships that feel more authentic and sustainable.

My approach focuses on recognizing your strengths and natural capacity for growth while creating a space where you feel heard, validated, and empowered. Clients have described me as a compassionate, attentive therapist who genuinely cares and helps them move beyond the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be holding them back. If you're looking for support, I'm here to help.

Are you a college or graduate student who feels like you’re constantly trying to keep up? Maybe you’re overwhelmed by school, work, relationships, and everything else you’re expected to figure out. Even when you’re doing well, you still feel like you’re not doing enough. You may be dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, low self-esteem, or the pressure to have your future figured out. I specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and young adults navigating these challenges. I understand that being a student isn’t just about academics. You’re also figuring out who you are, what you want, how to manage relationships, and how to build a life that feels meaningful all while dealing with the pressure to succeed. My goal is to help you feel less overwhelmed and more confident in your ability to handle whatever comes next. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck and develop practical skills to manage anxiety, cope with stress, and improve self-confidence. We’ll use evidence-based approaches including CBT and DBT, while tailoring therapy to your individual needs and goals. I take a warm, collaborative approach to therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start, and you don’t have to wait until things feel “bad enough” to reach out. Whether you’re struggling to keep up with school, feeling burned out, questioning yourself, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can be a space to slow down, understand what’s happening, and figure out what you want your next chapter to look like. If you’re looking for a therapist who will listen without judgment while also giving you practical tools you can actually use, I’d love to connect. I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit.

I want to set a tone that feels genuine, relaxed, and goal oriented where we develop real solutions to your real problems. You are sitting in therapy watching your therapist's lips move while she tells you for the fourth time that her cousin is gay and just got a “very butch” haircut. You can’t help thinking, “She just doesn’t get it.” He misgenders you, or forgets your partner’s pronouns, she pulls out Food and Mood, and he talks about how apple cider vinegar might be the solution to all your problems. She hasn't lived in a fat body. He hasn’t experienced homophobia or heterosexism from the inside. What initially seemed like a small hill to climb in your relationship has started to feel like a mountain. Maybe she tells you your black top is so slimming. Maybe once he referred to queer people as ‘homosexuals.’ Maybe, when you report your experiences of oppression, she tells you that the other party probably meant well and just wanted you to be healthier or have it easier in the world. You don’t trust him with your whole self, how can you? You’ve tried so many therapists in the past and she’s not that bad, is she? You continue to hope that therapy with a therapist who doesn’t quite get it will be enough to meet your needs. It’s not enough. You deserve a therapist who understands your lived experiences. You deserve a therapist who knows what it’s like to have your doctor prescribe weight loss to treat arthritis in your wrists, and who can truly hear it when you tell them about your experience with your homophobic aunt at Thanksgiving. You deserve a therapist who approaches the world with a solid intersectional anti-oppression framework that sees society, rather than some flaw in you, as the central piece of your problem. I can be that therapist. I’m fat, I’m queer, I have an intersectional lens, and I want to dismantle systems of oppression one client session at a time.

Could you use a safe space to process a major life transition? Are you looking for guidance on improving your relationships? I see therapy as a valuable tool to reflect on life, unpack how you're feeling, and discover what changes you can make to be more satisfied. My therapeutic style tends to be a good fit for clients who identify as perfectionists, struggle with anxiety and uncertainty, or who are experiencing stress from significant phase of life changes like starting school, getting married, or having kids. As a violinist myself, I love working with creatives, musicians, and performing artists. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and currently working towards my Perinatal Mental Health Certification. I strive to cultivate a supportive and compassionate relationship with my clients while also encouraging growth and accountability. I utilize evidence-based techniques, including ACT and CBT, to help clients improve their mental health. I also draw from my experience as a couples counselor to assist clients in developing more satisfying relationships. I received my EdS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Chicago and hold a degree in Violin Performance from Northwestern University. I started my private practice, Vivant Counseling & Psychotherapy, in 2022. Outside of the therapy room, I love taking walks with my pitbull Rosie, cooking pasta, and British crime dramas.

We have been taught that emotions are not meant to be felt but rather controlled. To hide the bad ones and only show the good ones. That sitting in them for too long means we are either dramatic, obsessive, or abnormal. If you have ever been told, either by others in your life or you yourself, that your emotions are too much or too complicated, I would like to say, “I hear you, and I am here for you.” In our sessions I would like to provide you with an environment where your emotional expression is celebrated and not reprimanded as I believe we can begin to heal once we have allowed ourselves to fully feel, without judgment or policing. Whether that is guilt, shame, sadness, anger, grief, anxiousness, and anything in between, we can work on processing them together at your own pace. I know that starting therapy can be a daunting and overwhelming task. However, getting the help you deserve and finding a therapist that fits your needs is already the first step!
