*I am always available for gender affirming care support letters* I am a queer & trans therapist that works with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, specializing in TGNC clients. The majority of my clients are non-binary, trans or gender expansive, and many are also neurodivergent. I believe in the importance of self-acceptance and self-compassion. As a result, I bring my genuine self to session, so you can feel comfortable unmasking or being authentic in our work together. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you can be you and feel seen and heard. I enjoy incorporating geek culture into therapy sessions, and I will sometimes use metaphors or references to help you connect with your emotions and experiences in a way that is meaningful to you. As a therapist of multiple lived experiences (multiracial, queer, trans and neurodivergent), I'm sensitive to the impact of intersectionality, power, and oppression on communities and individual experiences. I work through anti-racist, social justice, and trauma-informed lenses, and I strive to recognize and acknowledge the multiple layers of discrimination and privilege that can impact the way we move through the world.

Making the decision to come to therapy can be a powerful one. I support individuals navigating the various pressures and stresses in their lives. I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. In session, clients feel a space free of judgment where they can reconnect with their authentic selves. With that in mind, I approach sessions in a collaborative way with the hopes of building self-esteem and personal agency. In our sessions, you'll feel like you're part of a team and not up against the problem alone. I also help college students, young working professionals, and athletes manage all that comes with being in a high-pressured environment. My own experience as a collegiate athlete taught me the values of teamwork, resilience, and overcoming anxiety and self-doubt-- all qualities I aim to pass along to my clients. For all clients, mindfulness may be an important part of our work. I bring in tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as traditional talk therapy to help you establish healthy boundaries, control overwhelming emotions, and stay grounded in the present moment. I also have a special interest in working with athletes transitioning to life after their sports career. My training as a yoga teacher helps me to deeply understand the mind-body connection, and how identity can get tied up athletic performance. I’ll help you develop a new daily routine, find meaningful ways to incorporate exercise at a lower level, manage fluctuating mood, and develop strong relationships outside of sports. Our sessions will feel like you are supported in taking action steps in your life. I am here to listen and provide accountability with changes you are hoping to make in your life.
Anxiety and depression can make college feel overwhelming—constant worry, overthinking, feeling on edge, sudden waves of panic, or getting stuck in “what if” thoughts and mental loops. For some students, it also shows up as perfectionism, needing things to feel just right, or feeling driven to overanalyze, check, or mentally replay situations. For others, they get stuck and can't make decisions, start tasks, and quickly fall behind. My work with students is practical, goal-focused, and skills-based. Together, we focus on tools you can actually use in daily life—learning how to step out of worry and mental loops, tolerate uncertainty and distress, understand and name emotions, and respond more flexibly when strong, uncomfortable emotions show up. We’ll also look at how your emotions influence your choices, habits, and relationships, and work toward changes that help you move forward. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety or other uncomfortable emotions completely, but to help emotions to have less control over your thoughts, decisions, and day-to-day life so you can feel more present and grounded. My focus is on individual therapy for anxiety, social anxiety, panic, OCD, adjustment issues, depression and trauma focused therapy for PTSD.

If you are working on "growing roses", wanting to bloom, but stuck in the thorns, I am a therapist that can guide and support you on how to cultivate a garden that grows past their stems, and bloom over and over again. If you have been struggling with anxiety, trauma, loss, parenthood or other changes/challenges, I am here to support you through this with a strengths based, trauma informed approach. My name is Liz LaRose and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a decade of experience in the field of mental health. I am passionate about helping people through the difficult times to help them grow and bloom. For the past 8 decade, I have had a strong focus on supporting people through life's transitions. I specialize in working with young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and identity concerns. I have particular experience providing gender-affirming therapy and supporting clients as they explore and celebrate their gender identities. My goal is to help you build a meaningful life by identifying and embracing your authentic self. I emphasize teaching coping skills that will empower you to confront life's many challenges with dignity and integrity. Compassion and social justice are at the center of my practice. My approach is collaborative, curious, strengths-based, and playful. As we confront your experiences of suffering or injustice, you will find me both empathetic and irreverent: there is strength in humor and in sincerity. In our first sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we clarify what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. I firmly believe therapy should be a place where you feel seen, valued, and understood, and I encourage you to reflect on whether this feels true after our first meeting.
I've been working with young adults for the better part of the last decade within the context of their homes, schools, communities and families. I have also been supervising young adults as well as older adults in juggling school work and family with their career ambitions. Fostering growth for these folks, including in many marginalized communities is, to me, an incredibly important part of building lives worth living, and growing the strength of our communities. As a white cis-gendered queer therapist I have done my own work on my identity that has allowed me to see and show up for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks, as well as supporting other white folks in this work. My practice is rooted in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and health equity. Our mental health is not only our individual biologies and brains, we are shaped by the systems we exist within and this has a direct correlation to our physical well being as well. What you need in therapy may or may not relate to issues of oppression, and it is important for those for whom this is relevant to know there is a space to been seen and acknowledged for the ways this impacts your life. Growth and transitions can be incredible, and also very stressful. If anything you've read here or seen in my profile resonates. I would encourage you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit for the support you are seeking.
