Therapists for college students near Northeastern University
College can be one of the most exciting chapters of your life, but also one of the most overwhelming. Between academic pressure, relationship changes, identity exploration, family dynamics, and the constant push to “have it all together,” it’s easy to feel stretched thin or even lost. I’m Theresa, a licensed therapist who specializes in helping college students just like you find clarity, balance, and real coping tools in the midst of it all. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, or just need a safe space to unpack life, this space was created with you in mind. Therapy isn’t about having a diagnosis, it’s about having a space. A space where you can be honest without judgment, process what’s heavy, and learn how to thrive, not just survive. If you’re ready to feel more like you, let’s talk. You don’t have to figure this all out on your own.
Is anxiety or depression getting in the way of the life that you want to lead? Do you want to move towards independence but feel confused or overwhelmed? Are you questioning your sexuality or gender identity? I am here to help. I offer a calming, nonjudgmental presence providing support and helping you to learn new ways of overcoming the difficulties that you face. My approach is client-centered and I am continually impressed with the strength and resilience of the clients that I work with. I work with adults (18 and up) but particularly enjoy working with young adults transitioning to independence and LGBTQIA people. It can be frightening to reach out for assistance, especially if you have not been in therapy before. I have been told by past clients that my calm demeanor and gentle approach have helped them to overcome their reservations and fully engage in the healing process.
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ and marginalized folks through a strength-based, trauma-informed lens. I also have experience working with clients coping with anxiety and depression along with other identity shifts that come with life transitions.
Currently accepting new clients! As a therapist, I believe that every individual has the potential to heal, grow, and thrive. This means that I recognize the impact of trauma on individuals' lives, and I create a safe and supportive space where clients feel empowered to explore their challenges and develop strategies for healing and growth. Whether you are facing a major life transition, such as a job loss or divorce, or struggling with interpersonal conflicts, anxiety, or depression, I can provide guidance and support as you navigate these difficult experiences. My primary focus is on empowering clients to build resilience and manage these challenges effectively, while identifying solutions. I am offering Teletherapy Services only. Hello and welcome. I view therapy as an active and collaborative process of working toward your goals together. Therapy is not a one size fits all treatment. It should built around your needs. My number one priority is to provide you with the tools to get back on a path that feels genuine and life affirming. I want to help you heal, break free from old habits, develop healthy coping skills, and find new ways to respond to life's challenging situations. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD or have experienced traumatic events, the decision to seek help is a sign of great strength. Brainspotting is a method to help heal clients who have suffered from trauma. It is a neurophysiological treatment that provides psychological, emotional and physical benefits. It appears that Brainspotting helps to harness the brains own ability to heal itself and the body from stored trauma. Biolateral sound can be used to help enhance the healing process. Brainspotting can also be used to work on sports and performance blocks, as well as concussions. My treatment approach is holistic, integrative, and personalized to your unique circumstances. I use a combination of Brainspotting, Emotional Freedom Techniques (aka tapping), talk therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques are also used to help people shift their personal narrative and develop skills to navigate life's challenges. I offer vibrational sound healing which shifts and clears energy from the body allowing your body to move back into harmony and vibrant health. This service is offered to enhance your healing journey and is not covered by insurance.

It takes courage and commitment to begin the therapy process. Here at Mainstay Counseling & Wellness, LLC, we believe that our clients are capable of profound healing and change. It is our job to provide you with a safe and supportive place for reflection and exploration, and to help you identify thought and behavior patterns that create distress and inhibit growth. We consider ourselves to be a collaborative, person-centered and empirically minded group of psychotherapists that utilize several different specializations, strategies and interventions specifically tailored to meet your individual needs. Being a person is tough. We’re here to help you get the support you deserve.
As a mental health counselor, my goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that every person’s story is unique, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to healing or growth. My approach is collaborative and flexible to best suit my client's needs. I draw from a range of evidence-based methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, person-centered therapy, and strengths-based techniques.
I’m Alexandra Casamassima (a mouthful, I know), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. More specifically, I help people create positive change in their lives when they are struggling. I have expertise in working with women. This includes college students or millennials going through a “quarter life crisis,” the pregnancy and postpartum period, and beyond. I support women in exploring their history and revealing patterns that may be impacting their emotions or relationships, or just help tackle a difficult season of life. I am not your typical therapist, and we will not be interpreting dreams from a couch. Therapy should not be an awkward and stale experience. Expect therapy with me to be a compassionate and safe space to process what you’re going through. However, I am not a sit and nod therapist. I will be real. I will challenge you in the areas I think we need to re-evaluate. I will use humor. I might curse here and there. While I have extensive education and training that has prepared me for this role, my experience has mostly taught me that YOU are the expert of your life. You have all the strengths, capabilities, and life experiences you need to get you where you want to go. My skills involve utilizing those strengths, giving you the tools to cope with what you’re struggling with, and elicit the change you want to see. I do not have a magic wand (otherwise my rates would be much higher), but if you put in the work during the therapy process, transformation is possible. If you’re reading this, chances are you are suffering in some way. Maybe you’re experiencing anxiety, maybe you’re overwhelmed with being a mom, or maybe you know you’re just not getting the most out of life. Please reach out if you’d like to take the first step to make positive change.

I love clients who are curious about themselves and their relationships and are just looking for a safe place to talk. I bring much the same warmth, humor, and energy to my work that I do to my friendships. I'll remember your birthday and the name of the pet you had growing up, and the fact that you were anxious about that text you got last week. If you're anxious about therapy, or have had a bad experience in the past, that's a great place to start, and if you're ready to dive in, we can do that too.
Feeling anxious? You are not alone. It can be easy to end up feeling overwhelmed, uncertain and depressed - The pressures of relationships, school or work, family, friends all seem to pile up - and then taking care of yourself ends up on the bottom of the priority list. At Movemental Wellbeing, my approach is to help create a calm space where the anxiety and overwhelm don't have such a profound hold on you. One of the best strategies I know to do this is to find opportunities to go outside with clients, to go for a walk, and to feel connected and understood. Many of my colleagues and clients describe me as having a calm and compassionate presence, and that is the foundation of my work with you. Beyond that, I also believe that therapy doesn't have to be hard all the time. I like to find moments of humor, fun, joy and play and to make sessions experiential and movement-based to support all aspects of you. If the typical version of therapy (sitting and talking) doesn't feel like the best way for you to do this work, let's try something different. I'm committed to making therapy engaging, insightful and thought-provoking (and even fun). If this sounds like a refreshing approach that you might be interested in trying, please schedule a free consult call!
Client-centered, holistic practice with creative and evidence -based approaches.

This could manifest as challenges with self-esteem, self-doubt, confidence, or a loss of identity. Through the therapeutic relationship, the aim is to deepen your understanding of yourself. Making the decision to come to therapy can be a powerful one. I support individuals navigating the various pressures and stresses in their lives. I specialize in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. In session, clients feel a space free of judgment where they can reconnect with their authentic selves. With that in mind, I approach sessions in a collaborative way with the hopes of building self-esteem and personal agency. In our sessions, you'll feel like you're part of a team and not up against the problem alone. I also help college students, young working professionals, and athletes manage all that comes with being in a high-pressured environment. My own experience as a collegiate athlete taught me the values of teamwork, resilience, and overcoming anxiety and self-doubt-- all qualities I aim to pass along to my clients. For all clients, mindfulness may be an important part of our work. I bring in tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy as well as traditional talk therapy to help you establish healthy boundaries, control overwhelming emotions, and stay grounded in the present moment. I also have a special interest in working with athletes transitioning to life after their sports career. My training as a yoga teacher helps me to deeply understand the mind-body connection, and how identity can get tied up athletic performance. I’ll help you develop a new daily routine, find meaningful ways to incorporate exercise at a lower level, manage fluctuating mood, and develop strong relationships outside of sports. Our sessions will feel like you are supported in taking action steps in your life. I am here to listen and provide accountability with changes you are hoping to make in your life.
