Hello; My name is Shane Blasko. I am a Licensed Psychologist. The style of therapy that I utilize is compassion-based interpersonal therapy, which is based on the idea that the relationship between a person and their therapist is extremely important. I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy; it is an important relationship through which we can heal from past traumas, work through life transitions, learn to communicate more effectively, and learn to manage disruptive symptoms through learning more effective ways of coping, and understanding why we cope the way we do. I believe that it is important for therapists to try to understand the different contexts that each client is coming from; this means that I am dedicated to learning more about how each client experiences the world, and makes sense of it. I believe that each individual is unique, and that part of the job of the therapist is to try to understand how the client makes meaning of their experiences, and to assist the client with their goals.
I am a warm, caring counselor with a direct style. I believe that we are capable of much more than we oftentimes give ourselves credit for; an experienced ear and fresh perspective can help make the difference between simply surviving and thriving. It would be my honor to help you achieve more. I specialize in working with people struggling with mood problems and anxiety symptoms. I also love helping people overcome challenges associated with trauma and troublesome histories. I approach the therapeutic relationship with a deep respect for your preferences, strengths and desires. My office is ITP, conveniently located on Buford Highway between Lenox and North Druid Hills.

I specialize in working with college and graduate students, young professionals, and couples, empowering them to develop skills to manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and explore their self-identity. I also work with first generation and children of immigrants and am committed to maintaining a culturally-informed practice that honors the different ways that people experience and think of their identity. Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with things like anxiety, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Maybe you're struggling with the pressure of classes, or with adjusting to your new environment and building relationships. Or you might feel like you’re always anxious about getting things right or not knowing what's going to happen, and worry is becoming exhausting. Perhaps you're at a point where you want to learn more about the impact of your cultural background on your identity and explore the experiences you've had. Whether you're navigating major life transitions, managing work-related stress, or facing challenges in your relationships, my practice provides a supportive space to help you build resilience.
